A career as an Analyst in the Financial Institution Group (FIG) team at National Bank of Canada means playing a crucial role on a highly dynamic capital markets team. Your Job

  • Organizing and developing presentation materials supporting our clientsโ€™ capital decision-making
  • Assisting in the execution of M&A transactions and equity and fixed income issuances
  • Building complex financial models and valuation analysis
  • Conducting a variety of industry and company research and analysis
  • Performing various tasks supporting senior team members in their deal execution and client coverage efforts
  • Staying abreast of market trends, industry developments, company news, and regulatory changes to inform decision-making
  • Foster a collaborative team environment by actively participating in teamwork, sharing insights, and contributing to a positive workplace culture

Although the emphasis is placed on analytical capabilities, financial modelling and presentation skills, candidates must also show the ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues.

Your Team

You will be part of the FIG team, a team of 10 people located in our Toronto office and will report to the Group Head, FIG. Our team has experienced significant success over the years, deepening our relationships with our clients and gaining market share. We have developed a strong franchise with a deep bench of expertise. Over the years, we have been involved in financing transactions and mergers and acquisitions in the consumer finance, banking, exchange, asset and wealth management, life and general insurance segments. The FIG team works in a collaborative manner, with a focus on learning and development.

We will provide on-the-job training for the chosen candidate. Your colleagues will support you as you learn the key aspects of the work. In addition, we offer specialized training to improve your technical and presentation skills through out the year.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in finance, accounting or related field to the sector of activity
  • Strong analytical and financial modelling skills
  • Knowledge of capital markets and investment banking applications
  • Exceptional proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, and Word
  • Demonstrated problem-solving mindset, collaborative approach and great team spirit
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusting relationships
  • Experience in equity research, corporate finance, M&A, private equity, or corporate development is an asset
