Fixed assets are long-term tangible assets used in a company's operations. Examples include land, buildings, machinery, equipment, vehicles, furniture, fixtures, computers, tools, and leasehold improvements. These assets are recorded on the balance sheet and depreciated over their useful lives.

What are some common challenges faced in a Fixed Assets role, and how can they be addressed?

A common challenge in a Fixed Assets role is ensuring the accurate tracking and reconciliation of assets throughout their lifecycle, from acquisition to disposal. This often requires meticulous record-keeping and regular physical audits to prevent discrepancies. Another challenge is staying compliant with evolving accounting standards and tax regulations, which can impact asset depreciation and reporting. Collaboration with departments such as Procurement, Operations, and IT is essential to gather timely and accurate asset information.
