Job description

Five Rivers Analytics, an Akima company, is looking to hire an On-call/temporary/part-time American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter/Communication Facilitator support to the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) on an as-needed basis.
Responsibilities
  • Requires a flexible schedule with no guarantee of hours each week.
  • Provide support that increases the effectiveness of supported Departments and Directorates employees.
  • Efforts entail American Sign Language interpreting.
  • Support in this area will include working with Government civilian employees, contractors and others to promote communication.
  • Interpreter work is unclassified but may include PII and/or information of a sensitive nature up to the Secret level.
  • Become familiar with the DoD, Navy, and local NSWC PCD policies and procedures for performing the work required.

Qualifications
  • Active Secret clearance or (be a US Citizen able to obtain an Interim Secret to start).
  • Must be skilled in rapid-fire conversations, providing translation between spoken and sign language.
  • Must be able to communicate the accurate meaning of what is being spoken.
  • Must be able to translate oral or written language to sign language.
  • Possess the ability to make independent determinations concerning accuracy and thoroughness of the translation.
