Job description

Want to work with motivated, health-conscious clients in an environment that's positive, energetic, and actually fun to be part of? As a DEXA Technologist at BodySpec, you'll be on the front lines of fitness, wellness, and preventive health-helping people understand their bodies and track real progress. You'll work in a modern, startup-style environment where your impact is visible every day and your work truly matters
First-year Health Technician on Chicago can expect to earn up to $53,362 in total cash compensation, plus equity.
You'll Love This Job If You Have:
  • Passion for Preventive Health: You believe health is about more than treating illness-you want to help people understand their bodies and reach their goals.
  • Customer Service Instincts: You love one-on-one interaction and creating great experiences. You're warm, professional, and can make anyone feel comfortable-without the pressure of building your own book of business.
  • Startup Energy: You're energized by variety and building something new. Traditional healthcare feels slow and bureaucratic to you. You want to be part of a small, dynamic team where your work actually matters.
  • Grit and Flexibility: You don't mind early mornings or getting your hands dirty. You're resourceful-when something's broken, you fix it or propose solutions instead of waiting for someone else.
Many of our Health Technicians are former personal trainers, health coaches, fitness trainers, and nutritionists. Many have backgrounds in kinesiology, exercise science, nutrition, or other related fields.
However, if you're in a client-focused role today, and health and wellness is your passion but you've never had professional experience before, this is a great place to pursue your passion while making a difference.
What Will You Do?
  • Perform DEXA scans (bone density and body composition) and guide clients through a seamless, professional experience
  • Own your scanning days-manage your schedule, equipment, and client flow with autonomy
  • Work in our storefront locations, delivering consistent, high-quality scans
  • Handle light administrative work and equipment care
  • Complete paid onboarding training (one week, travel covered) to learn our systems and scanning protocols
Schedule
Full-time with 8-hour shifts. Start times typically range from 7:00am to 12:00pm. This is specifically for a Thursday - Monday schedule. There is an additional $100 bonus for both technicians who work both weekend days. This is in addition to the pay listed.
Requirements
  • We will pay for your training to become a Health Technician, including operation a DEXA machine.
  • Interest in healthcare and preventive wellness
  • Strong customer service skills and professional demeanor
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
Compensation:
First-year Health Technician in Chicago can expect to earn up to $53,362 in total cash compensation, plus equity.
  • Hourly Rate: $22/hour ($45,760 annualized at 40 hrs/week)
  • Performance Bonus: Up to 7% of base annually ($3,203)-half paid in cash ($1,602), half in stock options
  • Team Revenue Bonus: $500/month when we hit monthly goals ($6,000 annually-we hit our goals 9 out of 12 months in 2025)
  • Total Cash Compensation: Up to $53,362
  • Equity: Stock options through performance bonus and additional grants based on performance
All team members regardless of position are eligible for additional stock option grants and profit sharing based on performance. We expect both cash and equity compensation to grow as the company scales.
Benefits
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Paid time off
  • Sick leave
  • $75/month commute reimbursement
  • $10/shift meal stipend
  • Company-wide peer bonus program for recognizing excellent teamwork
  • Employee assistance program
  • Regular team events (both virtual and in-person)
  • Paid trainingto become a certified DEXA technologist

About BodySpec

We're building a nationwide network of DEXA technologists who deliver professional-grade body composition and bone density analysis in a way that's welcoming, not clinical.
