General Purpose
We are hiring at both of our recreation centers -
Bison Ridge Recreation Center
Eagle Pointe Recreation Center
2 - 4 hours per week.
Join our dynamic team at the Parks and Recreation Department as a Fitness Instructor! In this role, you'll lead exciting and inclusive group fitness classes that promote health and well-being in our community. With the support of our dedicated Recreation team, you'll provide expert guidance on proper techniques, adapt workouts for various fitness levels, and foster a positive environment for all participants.
Hiring salary is dependent upon experience.
The hiring range for the Fitness Instructor I: $17.76 - $20.11 per hour.
The hiring range for the Fitness Instructor II: $23.09 - $25.86 per hour.
The hiring range for the Fitness Instructor III: $25.90 - $28.82 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:Must be a minimum of 18 years of age. Previous experience a plus, but not required. Spanish/English bilingual is preferred, but not required. Must hold current CPR and AED certifications or the ability to obtain within 3 months of hire. Ability to demonstrate competent technical instructor skills
Fitness Instructor I: All of the above plus:• Ability to obtain nationally recognized primary group exercise certification (AFAA or ACE primary preferred, but others accepted as deemed appropriate), within 6 months of hire, with previous teaching experience• OR nationally certified (as designated above), 1 year or less experience Fitness Instructor II: All of the above plus:• Current nationally recognized primary group exercise certification (AFAA or ACE Primary preferred, but others accepted as deemed appropriate)• OR Nationally recognized specialty certification (EX: SilverSneakers®)• 1-5 years teaching experience Fitness Instructor III: All of the above plus:• Current nationally recognized primary group exercise certification (AFAA or ACE Primary preferred, but others accepted as deemed appropriate)• OR Nationally recognized specialty certification (EX: SilverSneakers®)• Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science or related field AND/OR 5+ years teaching experience

Recreation Center Membership: Employees are eligible for a membership to the Commerce City Recreation Center for $5.00 per year.
Golf Course Green Fees: Employees can play the City's award-winning Buffalo Run Golf Course at a rate of $9.00 for 9-holes or $18.00 for 18-holes. Employees can also purchase golf merchandise at discounted prices.
Benefits: The city monitors the hours worked for seasonal and variable hour employees. In the event that they work more than 1,560 hours within the ACA measurement period, they will be offered health benefits.
Wellness: Employees are eligible to earn up to $100 for participation in various wellness activities offered by the City throughout the year.
Eligibility for Pay Increases: Employees are eligible for a pay increase around the time of their annual appraisal following a successful evaluation.
Sick Time: Accrual is 1 hour per 30 hours worked
