Fit Pro information

What is a fit pro?

Fit Pros, short for Fitness Professionals, are individuals who are trained and certified to help others achieve their health and fitness goals. They may work as personal trainers, group fitness instructors, wellness coaches, or in other health-related roles. Fit Pros design and lead exercise programs, provide guidance on proper technique, and often offer advice on nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices. Their goal is to motivate, educate, and support clients in improving their physical well-being. Fit Pros can be found working in gyms, fitness centers, private studios, or offering virtual training services.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a fit pro, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Fit Pro, you need a solid understanding of exercise science, anatomy, and nutrition, often supported by a relevant fitness certification such as NASM, ACE, or ACSM. Familiarity with fitness assessment tools, wearable technology, and client management software is typically required. Exceptional interpersonal skills, motivation techniques, and the ability to adapt workouts to individual needs set standout professionals apart. These competencies enable Fit Pros to deliver safe, effective, and personalized training that helps clients achieve their health and fitness goals.

How do fit pros typically collaborate with other fitness staff to support client success?

Fit Pros often work closely with other trainers, group fitness instructors, and wellness professionals to create a comprehensive experience for clients. This collaboration can include sharing progress updates, coordinating schedules, and jointly developing personalized fitness plans. Regular team meetings and open communication help ensure that each client's unique goals are met, and that services such as nutrition guidance or rehabilitation exercises are seamlessly integrated. Working in this team-oriented environment supports both professional growth and client retention.

Job description

This Isn't Your Average Gym Job

Most personal trainers spend their careers fighting for floor space at a big-box gym, juggling 30 clients they barely know, and watching their passion for the work slowly grind down.

That's not what we do here.

Maxed Out Fitness is Annapolis's top-rated gym, boot camp, and personal trainer — three years running, voted Best of Annapolis by What's Up? Media. We are an elite boutique training studio, woman and veteran owned, built on a simple belief: every person deserves customized experiences, focused attention, fierce encouragement, and a trainer who is as invested in their success as they are.

We are growing — and we are looking for one to two exceptional trainers to grow with us.

What You'll Do

You'll work one-on-one and in small groups with a hand-selected clientele of high-achieving professionals, athletes, seniors, and motivated individuals who have specifically chosen a premium, boutique experience. These are not drop-in clients. They are committed, engaged, and expect the best — which means you will need to bring it every single session.

Your day-to-day includes:

  • Designing and delivering customized training programs across our service lines: personal training, athletic training, small group fitness, boot camp, senior fitness, and prenatal/postnatal fitness
  • Conducting thorough initial consultations to assess goals, history, limitations, and lifestyle
  • Building genuine relationships and tracking client progress over time
  • Collaborating with our team on nutritional guidance and strategic meal planning
  • Contributing to the culture and energy that has made Maxed Out the best in Annapolis

As we launch our new Integrated Functional Medicine division, high-performing trainers will have the opportunity to grow into a more expanded role — working alongside licensed medical professionals on integrated fitness and wellness protocols. This is a ground-floor opportunity in a genuinely differentiated service model.

What We're Looking For

Non-negotiables:

  • Minimum 3 years of personal training experience in a professional setting
  • Nationally recognized certification (NASM, ACE, NSCA, ACSM, or equivalent)
  • CPR/AED certified
  • Demonstrated experience with diverse client populations — including athletes, seniors, and special populations
  • Exceptional communication skills and a genuine passion for people, not just fitness
  • The self-discipline, reliability, and professionalism that a boutique, appointment-based studio demands
  • Morning and evening availability - that's when clients want to train! One Saturday Boot Camp per month required.

Our Culture

We are powerful, direct, and genuinely caring. We don't tolerate mediocrity — in ourselves or our work — but we also don't believe in tearing people down. We believe in hope, vision, and power. We show up every day to passionately inspire the people in front of us.

If that resonates with you — if you want to be part of a team that holds itself to a higher standard and treats every client like they're the most important person in the room — we want to talk to you.

How to Apply

Submit your resume, a current certification, and a brief note (no more than 200 words) telling us why Maxed Out Fitness is the right fit for you specifically — not just any gym.

Generic applications get generic responses. Tell us something real.
