Trainee LOCATION: RedCliffFish Company SALARY: $15.00-$18.00/hour, commensurate with experience, 40 hours/week SUPERVISOR(S):Red Cliff Fish Company Business and Production Managers THIS IS A FULL TIME SEASONAL LIMITED TERM NON-EXEMPT (LTE) POSITION. JOB SUMMARY:The Red Cliff Fish Company (RCFC) is a Tribally owned and operated company dedicated to providing the healthiest protein on the planet

The Trap Net Boat Trainee will be trained and educated regarding the schedule, operation, and maintenance of RCFC's trap net fishing boat.

As well, the Trap Net Boat Trainee is a member of the RCFC team and will also be trained in the full cycle of fish harvest and processing including production floor operations, processing and delivery of fish product to the end user. Examples of Duties DUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIES: Training, education and skill acquisition of Red Cliff Fish Co. Trap Net fishing operation with goal of becoming self-sufficient including: Training on Red Cliff's Lake Superior commercial fishing code.

Trap Net operation safety requirements and protocol. Designation, management and adherence to regular schedule of trap net boat operation. Trap Net Boat operation & navigation.

On-site trap net training including setting & lifting trap nets, harvesting Lake Superior fish under Red Cliff's Commercial fishing code and maintenance of trap nets. Perform routine and corrective maintenance for trap net boat. Perform production floor operations: Work closely with Assistant Operations Manager and Operations Manager to learn and follow company procedures for processing and sanitizing.

Safely utilize knives and machinery to dress, scale and fillet fish. Assist staff in receiving and weighing boxes of fish and bulk package for shipment. Grade and separate fish according to size and quality.

Assist staff in preparing and packaging fish orders for delivery. Assist staff with preparing products for smoking, vacuum packing, and other processing as needed. HACCP protocol & record keeping training.

Help with sanitation and groundskeeping of the facility. The above duties and responsibilities are not an all-inclusive list but rather a general representation of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position. The duties and responsibilities will be subject to change based on organizational needs and/or deemed necessary by the supervisor.

SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY: None Typical Qualifications KNOWLEDGE: Strong desire to learn and be taught about trap net boat operations. Ability to adhere to company deadlines, standards, and directions. Strong desire to learn and be taught about equipment in the facility.

Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills. Possess the discipline to monitor progress consistently and stick to priorities when prudent or adjust the plans when appropriate. QUALIFICATIONS: Must be 18 years of age or older.

Experience in manufacturing in a food processing environment or comparable experience preferred, not required. Prior fish production experience preferred, not required. 4.

Prior retail and/or customer service experience preferred, not required. Supplemental Information PERSONAL CONTACTS:Daily contact with Red Cliff Fish Company staff, Treaty Natural Resources Division staff, vendors, customers, and fishermen. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

Must be able to stand on feet for long periods of time in cold temperatures. Be able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information in person. Average visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect product or prepare machinery.

Standing and walking 90% of the time. Role requires significant exertion and the ability to handle, lift, and perform maneuvers of weights up to 100 lbs. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Fish Plant with cold temperatures.

Work setting must be maintained as a clean, nonsmoking, well-ventilated area in compliance with all applicable safety regulations. All tribal buildings are smoke free.
