Job description

Individuals at this level generally have a minimum of two years of experience as a Tax Associate, including two calendar/fiscal year busy seasons. They also have either passed the CPA exam or parts of the CPA exam.

Senior Tax Associate Responsibilities
  • Know and understand the reasons behind firm policies and procedures
  • Possess technical knowledge and communication skills sufficient to supervise and train Staff Tax Associates
  • Be able to communicate well with clients, within their area of tax expertise
  • Begin acquiring the skills necessary to develop quality client relationships during the tax season and throughout the year
Senior Tax Associate Duties
  • Expand their command of pertinent IRC sections and regulations
  • Have a good command of common tax regulations, procedures, and research techniques, including the various research sources in the firm library
  • Own the preparation of level‑appropriate tax returns, including corporate, individual, partnership, fiduciary, or other tax returns prepared by the firm
  • Assume responsibility for efficiently supervising the completion of tax returns as completed by Tax Preparer Associates
  • Have the ability to review tax trial balance and approve adjustments to the unadjusted numbers
  • Command a common book‑to‑tax schedule of M‑1 differences
  • Recognize additional opportunities to expand tax service offerings to clients
  • Have a strong ability to mentor Tax Associates and provide training and coaching
  • Assist in development of budgets on jobs
  • Maintain required CPE
Qualifications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)
  • Proficient in CCH Axcess or similar products
  • Proficient in Oracle NetSuite preferred
  • Proficient in Odoo ERP and CRM preferred
  • Experience or familiarity with QuickBooks and tax preparation software is a plus
  • Ability to work independently in a team atmosphere
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business and Accounting
  • CPA, EA, or CPA eligible preferred
