Budget / Financial Analyst
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite - Candidates must be local to the Phoenix area
Assignment Length: 6+ Months with potential for extension
Interview: Candidates must be available for either a virtual or onsite interview
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Budget / Financial Analyst to support departmental budget planning, financial tracking, and grant-funded programs. This position will work closely with internal departments and external sub-grantees to provide budget updates, monitor funding, and ensure grant dollars are appropriately allocated and utilized.
The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in Excel, comfortable working with budgets in the millions of dollars, and have experience with financial analysis, budgeting, grants, or related financial functions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support departmental budget planning, forecasting, and financial tracking.
  • Monitor and analyze large-scale budgets involving millions of dollars.
  • Track grant funding and assist in ensuring funds are appropriately allocated and utilized.
  • Prepare and maintain spreadsheets, budget reports, and financial documentation.
  • Provide regular budget updates to internal departments and stakeholders.
  • Communicate with external sub-grantees regarding budgets, funding, and financial updates.
  • Review financial data for accuracy and identify discrepancies or areas requiring follow-up.
  • Assist with grant-related financial tracking and reporting.
  • Partner with multiple departments while providing strong internal customer service.
  • Assist with procurement-related activities as needed.
  • Create and process purchase orders (POs), invoices, and related documentation.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or a related field OR 2+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Strong experience with budgeting, financial analysis, accounting, grants, or a related financial function.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and spreadsheets is required.
  • Experience working with and tracking large budgets, preferably involving millions of dollars.
  • Ability to analyze and organize large amounts of financial data.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to communicate financial and budget information to multiple departments and external stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Preferred Experience
  • Grant or government funding experience.
  • Experience working with sub-grantees or grant-funded programs.
  • Budget planning and forecasting experience.
  • Procurement experience, including purchase orders and invoice processing.
  • Previous experience supporting large departmental or organizational budgets.
