Job description

Duties: The Pro Shop Worker I assists with the daily operation of the golf course pro shop and related customer service functions. This position supports tee time scheduling, golfer check-in, retail sales, and general pro shop operations to ensure an efficient, organized, and customer-focused experience. Work is performed under general supervision and in accordance with City policies, golf course procedures, and customer service standards. Assists the Golf Course Superintendent or assigned staff with managing tee times, order of play, and starting players on the first tee. Takes telephone and in-person reservations for playing time and enters tee times into the reservation system. Greets golfers and answers customer questions regarding course rules, fees, pace of play, and general golf operations. Sells golf-related merchandise, green fees, cart rentals, and other services in the pro shop. Operates the cash register and point-of-sale system; accepts cash, credit, and electronic payments; and issues receipts. Balances and reconciles cash drawer and sales transactions at the end of each shift. Handles routine customer complaints and refers more complex issues to supervisory staff as appropriate. Maintains cleanliness and organization of the pro shop, cart barn, and surrounding outside areas. Cleans, washes, fuels, and stages golf carts; performs basic cart maintenance such as tire changes and reporting mechanical issues. Operates small equipment and tools related to assigned duties in a safe and efficient manner. Observes equipment condition and reports breakdowns, safety concerns, or maintenance needs to appropriate personnel. Must have and maintain, without interruption, required certifications and licenses. Works assigned schedule and complies with the City's timekeeping and attendance policies. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate. One (1) to three (3) months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Availability to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Valid Texas Class C Driver's License and a good driving record. PREFERRED: Experience in customer service, retail, or golf course operations. Familiarity with point-of-sale systems. Bilingual (English/Spanish).

  • As an employee, you will contribute a portion of your salary each pay-period towards your retirement and the City will match your contribution by 200%. Example, if you contribute $100, the City will contribute $200.
  • Civilian employees accumulate vacation at the following rates:
    • Less than 6 years of service - two weeks of vacation per year.
    • From 6 to less than 11 years of service - three weeks of vacation per year.
    • From 11 to less than 21 years of service โ€“ four weeks of vacation per year.
    • From 21 to less than 26 years of service โ€“ five weeks of vacation per year.
    • From 26 years of service and up โ€“ six weeks of vacation per year.
