The City of Aspen is hiring for the following seasonal Golf position:

Job Title: Golf Shop Manager
Department: Golf
Classification: Non-Exempt, seasonal
Golf Season: April 1, 2026 - October 1, 2026
Pay Range: $25.61- $30.74

Position Summary: This seasonal role exemplifies leadership through effective communication and conduct. The Golf Shop Manager oversees the daily operations of front-line services at Aspen Golf Club, ensuring they meet the highest standards. Key responsibilities include scheduling and supervising Outside Services and Player Assistants/Starters, managing inventory, conducting staff training, maintaining customer service excellence, and supporting leagues, events, tournaments, and group outings.

Supervision Exercised and Received: The role reports directly to the Head Golf Professional and 1st Assistant Professional. It provides support to the 1st Assistant with managing the inside staff, while also overseeing all Outside Services as well as Player Assistant/Starter team members. In situations where both the Head Professional and 1st Assistant Professional are absent, this position serves as the acting manager.

Essential Job Functions:
Retail and Office Management
Manages and supports the operation of all administrative functions, with emphasis on reservations, customer service, bank/deposit handling, and inventory management.
Trains, manages, and oversees all Outside Services and Player Assistant/Starter staff as outlined by the Head Golf Professional.
Contributes to and oversees department goal tracking and adherence to Customer Service Standards.
Ensures Golf Shop staff are well-trained, managed, and deliver outstanding guest experiences in a fun, professional workplace.
Assists with retail buying and purchasing as directed by the Head Golf Professional.
Manages retail displays, handles orders and receiving, organizes stock, supports merchandising and marketing, and processes invoices.

Events & Golf Operations
Manages, organizes, and oversees all special events, leagues, tournaments, and group outings as outlined by the Head Golf Professional.
Plans and communicates all events proactively with staff to ensure Customer Service Standards are surpassed.
May develops and implements outreach strategies to increase public awareness regarding sales, events, and marketing.

Budget, Inventory, and Operational Management
Assists the Golf Professionals in managing and monitoring retail and payroll budgets.
Ensures invoices and special orders are ordered, tracked, and processed.
Tracks inventory, manages user accounts, and maintains tee sheet management.
Oversees all deposits, bank bags, and change bags.
Performs routine inventory checks and generates reports.

Professional Requirements:
Maintains a minimum 10.0 USGA Handicap Index

Minimum Requirements:
Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Experience: Minimum of three years of professional experience in golf shop or retail operations, including 2 years of supervisory experience.

Technical Knowledge: Must be proficient with POS systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook (Email), and have a basic understanding of online computer-based technology applications, which includes accessing web-based platforms.

Licenses & Certifications: Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License or be able to obtain one within 30 days of start date.

NOTE: This position requires a Criminal Background Check upon hire. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a Criminal Background Check.
NOTE: Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required abilities, knowledge and skills as determined by the City of Aspen may be substituted for the requirements above.

Position Type and Work Hours:
Seasonal: 40-hour work week, Hours may vary depending on depending on operational needs and golf season
Season Start Date: April 1, 2026
Season End Date: October 1, 2026
Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
Standard golf shop hours, during the Peak Season: 6:00 am to 8:00 pm

Work Environment:
Indoors: Golf clubhouse and front counter.
Outdoors/Off-Site: Provides supervision and direction to Outside Service personnel. Assists with the fulfillment of all Outside Service duties as required.
