Job description

Grand Canyon University is seeking a Commuter Life Assistant to support the mission of Grand Canyon University through GCU's Student Engagement department.
Position Summary/Purpose:
The purpose of this position is to support the growth, efforts, and goals of Commuter Life and to oversee the use of the Commuter Lounge.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Greet commuter students at front desk/ reception and help guide and direct them to the lounge or other department's on-campus depending on the students need.
  • Check-in students as they enter the Commuter Lounge
  • Manage Commuter Lounge and make sure it is cleaned by facilities, fully stocked, and in order at EOD
  • Restock lounge items and maintain cleanliness of fridges, microwaves, and table surfaces.
  • Manage commuter lockers and assist commuters in registering for a commuter locker for the year
  • Responsible for working with Public Safety in ensuring unregistered lockers have locks removed and are correctly registered for by students
  • May meet with or communicate with customers, clients, contacts, vendors, external to Grand Canyon University and ensures GCU is well represented.
  • May host commuter pop-up events in the Commuter Lounge.
  • May drive an authorized GCU golf cart.

  • Desktop computer
  • Microsoft outlook for e-mail management
  • Microsoft Word and Excel for Commuter Locker management
  • Software used for check-in

Qualifications:
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Exceptional ability to organize information and pay attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Superior telephone and email skills.
  • Outstanding ability to manage time and handle multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Must be able to greet and assist all people who enter the Commuter Lounge.
  • Must be able to demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
  • Must have valid driver's license and clean driving record

Experience/Education:
Grand Canyon University is committed to a student first policy. Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment:
  • Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor's program.
  • Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.

You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.
Pay Rate: Minimum Wage
Anticipated End Date: June 30, 2027
