Kennedy Krieger Institute offers more than 55 outpatient clinics, home and community programs, education, research, pediatric neurobehavioral and rehabilitation/feeding inpatient units and a day hospital.
This position is 40 hours per week, working Monday through Friday from 8:00am-4:30pm, hours are flexible and hybrid schedule. Must be available to work outside of normal working hours as needed. Must be able to travel in a reliable personal vehicle to and from different locations and sites within Maryland, approximately 75% of the time.

Responsibilities
  • Strategically develops, establishes, nurtures, and maintains positive relationships with referral customers, including patients and families, hospital/health system partners, payors, and business customers.
  • Build and sustain trusted external relationships with referring hospitals, case managers, physicians, and office managers through on-site visits, calls, and timely issue resolution to grow inpatient referrals and meet census/throughput goals.
  • Assess admission appropriateness via in-person assessments and referring source coordination as well as family discussions about programs.
  • Represent programs at conferences and community events; educate the provider community by providing in-services and professional presentations for referral sources and stakeholder groups.
  • Collaborate with the Public Relations and Marketing department/External Relations to develop targeted materials and referral messaging; contribute market intelligence and referent feedback to leadership.
  • Serve as a clinical expert for insurance and partner with the Patient Financial Services department to understand referral-related financial implications and insurance considerations.
  • Maintain accurate referral, admission, and disposition data in approved systems (e.g., Electronic Medical Record (EMR), referral trackers/Customer Relationship Management (CRM), report trends, pipeline, and conversion metrics.

Qualifications
Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. BSN or enrolled in a BSN program to be completed within 2 ½ years of hiring date.
Experience: Minimum 3 years of care management experience in a hospital care setting. Demonstrated client services/relationship management and/or outreach/marketing experience in healthcare settings is required.
License: Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse license from Maryland or a compact state.
Certification: Current CPR certification that included hands on skills.
Related case management, quality assurance, or utilization review certification preferred.
