Job description

Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Pharmacy Technician II you will assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory, and maintaining patient records. You will participate in providing patient specific care standards as directed and follow service excellence standards to ensure high levels of patient satisfaction.

  • You will accurately prepare sterile products for pharmacist check
  • You will accurately maintain computer patient profiles by entering medication orders and other pertinent information
  • You will accurately prepare and label medications for final check and dispensing by the pharmacist
  • You will deliver medications and provide other distributional services and quality monitoring for patient care and ancillary areas
  • You will generate computer reports/patient records and maintains paper flow
  • You will actively participate in the quality improvement activities of the department
  • You will perform activities related to medication and supply purchasing, inventory control and distribution according to approved policies and procedures
  • You will assist in orientation and training of new employees in all areas of expertise, including computer order entry and aseptic sterile product preparation
  • You will routinely participate on process improvement teams when feasible or provides input and makes suggestions for improvement in quality and cost effective delivery of services
  • You will assists in preparing outpatient prescriptions as needed and may affix prescription label to container
    What qualifications you will need:

    Education

    • High School Diploma or equivalent

    Experience

    • A minimum of 6 months Pharmacy Technician experience at South Austin Medical Center or 12 months hospital experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital with at least 200 beds

    Licenses and Certifications

    • Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) Pharmacy Technician Registration or TSBP Pharmacy Intern License
    • Sterile Products (IV) Certification through the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) within 3 months of date of hire
