St. Thomas University (STU) invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the Department of Communication & Media Studies. This is an on-campus appointment at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor, beginning Fall 2026, subject to final budgetary approval.

Position Summary
The successful candidate will be a hands-on, student-centered educator who thrives in a teaching-focused environment and is deeply committed to mentoring undergraduate students. This faculty member will teach a range of courses within the Communication & Media Studies curriculum and contribute meaningfully to departmental service and university life.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate courses in Communication & Media Studies, with an emphasis on applied, skills-based instruction (e.g., media production, journalism, digital media, public relations, film, or related areas), depending on expertise
  • Mentor and advise students, including support for internships, capstone projects, and career preparation
  • Maintain regular office hours and provide individualized academic guidance to students
  • Participate in curriculum development and program growth within a small, collaborative department
  • Engage in departmental, college, and university service, including participation in assessment and recruitment efforts

  • Contribute to a collegial academic environment aligned with the mission and values of St. Thomas University

Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Communication, Media Studies, Journalism, Digital Media, Film, or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse, first-generation, and non-traditional student populations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a clear interest in student mentorship
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Communication or a closely related field
  • Professional experience in media, journalism, digital production, public relations, or related industries
  • College-level teaching experience in a teaching-focused institution
  • Evidence of scholarly, creative, or professional activity appropriate to rank
