Provide leadership, planning, coordination, and evaluation for the South Plains College career services program in support of student success, workforce preparation, and transfer and employment outcomes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Program Coordination:
- Provide administrative leadership for Career Services operations and ensure effective delivery of services across the College, including all SPC centers.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive career services plan aligned with the College's mission, student success goals, workforce priorities, and transfer pathways.
- Oversee career development programming for students and alumni, including career exploration, major-to-career guidance, resume and cover letter review, interview preparation, mock interviews, job-search strategies, and professional skills development.
- Coordinate and promote career-related events such as career fairs, employer information sessions, recruiting events, classroom presentations, workshops, transfer and career exploration events, and networking activities.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with local businesses, industries, workforce boards, chambers of commerce, school districts, universities, and community organizations to expand internships, co-ops, job shadowing, mentoring, and employment opportunities for students and graduates.
- Serve as the primary College contact for employer relations and actively recruit employers to post jobs, participate in campus events, and hire students and alumni for part-time, full-time, internship, and work-study opportunities.
- Collaborate with faculty, instructional deans, and program coordinators to align career services with academic programs, career and technical education pathways, and transfer-focused majors, including support for internships, practicums, clinical placements, and other experiential learning opportunities.
- Work closely with advising, counseling, testing, financial aid, student employment, and transfer staff to provide coordinated, student-centered services that help students identify programs of study, connect those programs to in-demand occupations, and transition successfully to universities or the workforce.
- Supervise assigned staff, including hiring recommendations, training, work assignments, performance evaluations, and ongoing professional development, and establish departmental procedures and service standards.
- Administer the department budget and related planning processes, including assessment, purchasing, annual goals, reports, and continuous improvement activities.
- Represent the College in community, regional, and professional settings and remain current on labor market trends, employer expectations, transfer and workforce pathways, and best practices in career development and student support.
- Manage career services technology and online resources, including job boards, career exploration platforms, student/employer databases, and appointment or event systems; monitor job postings for quality and legitimacy.
- Collect, maintain, and analyze data on student participation, employer engagement, internships, graduate placement, and career outcomes, and prepare reports for institutional planning, assessment, accreditation, and decision-making.
- Promote career services to all student populations, including rural students, first-generation students, adult learners, dual credit or early college students, career and technical students, transfer students, and students attending all SPC locations or online.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including occasional evening or weekend activities related to College events, outreach, recruiting, and employer engagement.
- Required: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in higher education, student affairs, counseling, business, workforce development, human resources, public administration, or a related field.
- Preferred: Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in counseling, higher education administration, student affairs, business, organizational leadership, workforce education, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in higher education, student services, career services, workforce development, employer relations, internship/job placement, or a closely related area.
- Experience supervising staff and coordinating programs or services in a college, university, workforce, or community-based setting.
- Experience in a higher education institution serving student populations across multiple campuses and instructional locations.
- Experience with employer relations, internships, work-based learning, transfer support, and career-services platforms or comparable student/employer systems.

- Knowledge of the community college mission, including support for transfer, workforce education, career and technical programs, and service to local communities.
- Ability to build effective relationships with industry employers, institutional employees, SPC students, SPC alumni, and service area partners.
