Job description

Do you have a fascination with surgery? Love the hustle and bustle of the operating room? Love problem solving and knowing advanced technical skills? Join ROC as a First Assist! We'd love to show you what it's like to work here. If selected for an interview, you'll see the surgery center and our people in action. This position will remain posted until filled.

You would be in the operating room as the surgeons are operating, providing help as needed. We want our patients to get back to moving the way they want to be moving, and the surgery is a major part of that! You would play a role in improving their lives each day. Develop strong relationships with our surgeons and medical providers and find your people here at ROC.

ROC is expanding with two more operating suites opening in 2025. Join our team to be part of the growth and excitement!

What would you do as a First Assist?

You can expect to regularly:

  • Set up surgical instruments, supplies and equipment according to the procedure and surgeon preferences. 
  • Prepare the surgical suite for operation, including supporting the surgeon with instruments and supplies, assist with positioning the patient for surgery properly and turning over the rooms after the patient returns to recovery.
  • Work with the surgeon to help as needed, including preparing surgical grafts, performing closure of incisions, and applying various wound dressings or splints.
  • Count sponges, needles and instruments before and after surgery.  

Requirements

  • Certifications/Education
    • Active certification of Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting;
  • Knowledge of:
    • Proper patient positioning and safety;
    • Surgical procedures and required equipment/instruments;
  • Experience:
    • Communicating professionally with all levels of staff and providers.

Travel: May require travel to and from other locations based on manager and surgeon discretion.
