The facility maintains a Level 1 Trauma Center and operates a state air ambulance system, while housing an award-winning Heart & Vascular Institute that is a national leader in advancing cardiac care, recognized by both the Joint Commission and the American Heart Association.

Advanced Practitioners - Surgery
Job Details:
  • Join a busy and growing Department of Cardiac Surgery as an operating room Physician Assistant within the Heart & Vascular Institute
  • Work under the direction of a cardiothoracic surgeon performing a variety of clinical duties
  • First assist in cardiovascular surgical procedures
  • Perform endoscopic vessel harvesting
  • Conduct preoperative history and physical examinations
  • Provide postoperative care in an outpatient clinical setting and deliver patient education
  • Schedule is Monday through Friday with periodic weekday and weekend call
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Master's program
  • Must be licensed, or eligible to be licensed, as a Physician Assistant in the state of Connecticut
  • Must be certified, or eligible to be certified, as a Physician Assistant
  • 2+ years of experience in cardiovascular surgery preferred; new graduates with the right qualifications will be considered
  • First assistant experience, including endoscopic vein harvesting skills, preferred
  • Newly graduated and experienced providers are provided with comprehensive support, mentorship, and training
