Location: Mercy Hospital - Oklahoma City

Shift: Full Time (36 hours/week)

Schedule: 3 12-hour shifts/week

Overview:

Under the supervision of the surgeon, The Surgical Tech First Assist (ST-FA) is a role which provides additional assistance to the surgeon in the Operating Room over and above that normally provided. As defined by the American College of Surgeons (ACS), surgical assistants provide aid in exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other interoperative technical functions that help the surgeon carry out a safer operation with optimal results for the patient. In addition, the ST-FA may perform in the role of the Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room as needed. Coordinates the care of the surgical patient with other team members. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and guiding principles.


Qualifications:

  • Education: High-School Diploma or GED Required.

  • Preferred Experience: 2+ years of full-time scrub experience with complex and routine cases preferred.

  • Licensure / Certification: If non-certified, will train the right candidate. 1-2 years of scrub experience required. If certified, successful completion of the Tech in Surgery - Certified (NCCT) exam with certification for LPN and Military candidates. 1-2 Years of scrub experience required. American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.

  • Preferred Licensure / Certification: Graduate with a Degree in Surgical Technology from an accredited surgical technology program preferred.

  • Other: Must understand English both written and spoken, must be able to safely and successfully perform job-related functions, with or without reasonable accommodation required by federal, state, or local law.
