Job Title: Dairy Queen Assistant Manager

Reports To: Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Hourly

Role Type: Full-time or Part-time

Working Hours: This position requires flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays. Weekly hours will vary depending on business needs.

Job Summary: The Dairy Queen Assistant Manager helps oversee daily restaurant operations, supports the General Manager, and ensures the team delivers a high-quality guest experience. This role assists with staffing, training, and operational standards while helping drive team performance and efficiency.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the General Manager with daily operations and shift coverage
  • Supervise, train, and develop team members and shift leads
  • Ensure exceptional customer service and resolve escalated guest concerns
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and scheduling processes
  • Monitor labor, food costs, and inventory levels
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, food safety, and health regulations
  • Assist with cash handling, deposits, and financial reporting
  • Maintain cleanliness, food quality, and brand standards
  • Help implement operational goals and improve store performance
  • Step in as acting manager when the General Manager is not present

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

An ideal candidate will have experience with or understanding of:

  • Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation.
  • Good customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to learn and follow company procedures.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Team-oriented with a positive, professional attitude.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.

Education and Experience:

An ideal candidate will have the following education and experience:

  • Previous supervisory or management experience in quick service restaurant or food service
  • Strong leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills

Working environment and physical requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be able to stand during the entire work shift.
  • Must be able to work in a cooler at a temperature of 35 degrees for up to 30 minutes.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to tolerate gas fumes and cleaning products.
  • Must be able to climb a ladder to clean windows.

Travel: Must be able to travel up to 10%
