Job description

We are seeking a dependable and motivated Laborer to assist with plastering, firestopping, fireproofing, and weather barrier installations on construction sites. This is a hands-on role requiring physical labor, attention to detail, and the ability to support skilled tradespeople in a variety of tasks. Prior experience is beneficial but not required; we’re willing to train the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

Plastering Support:

  • Prepare, mix, and transport plaster, cement, and finishing materials
  • Assist with application of plaster to walls, ceilings, and decorative features
  • Set up and clean tools, scaffolding, and work areas
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety on job sites

Firestopping Support:

  • Assist in preparing penetrations and joints for firestop systems
  • Support the installation of firestop sealants, wraps, and sleeves per code and manufacturer specs
  • Ensure all work is compliant with fire safety standards and project plans

Fireproofing Support:

  • Prep surfaces for application of fireproofing materials (e.g., scraping, priming)
  • Assist in applying spray-on or board-applied fireproofing systems
  • Maintain equipment and help manage material inventory

Weather Barrier Support:

  • Aid in installation of vapor barriers, waterproofing membranes, and building wraps
  • Prep substrates and help apply flashing, sealants, and adhesives
  • Inspect and report on material integrity and coverage consistency

General Duties:

  • Load, unload, and distribute materials and tools to appropriate work areas
  • Follow all health and safety regulations and wear required PPE
  • Communicate effectively with crew members and supervisors
  • Support various trades as needed across project sites

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in construction, firestopping, or weatherproofing is a plus
  • Willingness to learn multiple trades and construction systems
  • Physically fit and able to lift 50+ pounds, stand, bend, and work in various conditions
  • Comfortable working at heights and on scaffolding (if qualified)
  • Dependable with good time management and a team-oriented attitude
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required

Work Environment:

  • Indoor and outdoor construction sites, sometimes in tight or high locations
  • Exposure to dust, chemicals, weather, and loud machinery
  • Regular physical activity and occasional use of ladders, lifts, and scaffolding
