Customers must usually provide valid identification and pass a background check before purchasing a firearm. The inventory can include handguns, rifles, shotguns, and various firearm accessories.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist customers in selecting firearms and related products based on their needs and knowledge of platforms and calibers.

  • Handle sensitive paperwork such as 4473s and background checks accurately and responsibly.

  • Maintain safety standards by properly handling firearms, keeping the shop organized, and ensuring a secure environment.

Job description

The Gun Store is Conway’s premier destination for the shooting community. We operate an indoor range, a massive retail showroom, on-site gunsmithing, and professional CWP training. We’re a fast-paced, "safety-first" shop that values hard work and deep product knowledge. We treat every customer with respect, from first-time shooters to seasoned pros, and we’re looking for team members who do the same.

Store location: 3594 Hwy 701 S. Conway, SC 29527

We need someone who actually knows firearms, understands the mechanics of what they’re selling, and takes safety seriously. If you are passionate about firearms, including education and safety, we would like to talk to you.

The Job:

  • Help customers pick the right tool for the job, whether it’s for home defense, CCW, or long-range hunting. You need to know the difference between platforms and calibers inside and out.
  • You’ll be handling 4473s, background checks, and other sensitive paperwork with valued customers. We need someone who won't miss out on details when writing up important documents.
  • You’ll be responsible for keeping the counter safe, ensuring every gun is handled properly, and keeping the shop organized.
  • You’ll use our computer system to facilitate sales and check inventory, so confidence in basic computer skills and typing is mandatory.
  • We treat our community with respect. You’ll be answering phones, checking in range shooters, and keeping the showroom looking professional.

What we’re looking for:

  • You will be handling firearms and sensitive documents, so we need someone disciplined and trustworthy.
  • You have a deep background in firearms (you don't necessarily need to have worked in a shop before, but you need to know your stuff).
  • You are detail-oriented. A mistake on a background check is a big deal here.
  • This is a high-volume store. We need people who show up on time and stay productive when it’s busy.
  • You can talk to anyone. From a first-time buyer to a seasoned collector, treat every interaction personably and with respect.
  • You’re reliable, show up on time, and take pride in your work.
  • Prior firearms sales or training experience is required. Candidates must have previous experience selling firearms in a retail environment or substantial formal training and hands-on experience with firearms. Applicants should have a strong understanding of firearm safety, operation, platforms, calibers, and terminology. This is not an entry-level firearms position.

What We Offer:

  • Pay based on experience
  • Training on products, systems, and compliance procedures
  • A professional, team-oriented work environment
  • Work in a premier facility with an indoor range and full-service gunsmithing.
