Job description

Wiginton Fire Systems
is seeking an experienced Fire Protection Engineer (PE) to help expand and strengthen our presence in the South Florida market. We are looking for a licensed Florida Professional Engineer who wants to help build something long term while working on complex and high-profile fire protection projects across the Southeast and beyond.

This is an opportunity to join a growing, employee-owned company where engineering has a direct seat at the table. You will work alongside experienced fire protection professionals while helping shape the future of our engineering division and South Florida presence.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and manage fire protection engineering projects from concept through completion
  • Provide engineering and code consulting for fire sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, BDA/ERCES systems, and special hazard systems
  • Perform building and fire code analysis, egress analysis, fire hazard analysis, and alternative methods evaluations
  • Review, comment on, and seal engineering drawings, calculations, and technical documents
  • Develop performance-based fire protection designs when hazards fall outside prescriptive code requirements
  • Conduct site surveys and technical assessments
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, AHJs, and project stakeholders
  • Support business development initiatives and help grow Wiginton Fire Protection Engineering in the South Florida market
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to design and sales teams
  • Stay current with NFPA standards, code changes, and industry advancements

Qualifications

  • Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license required, preferably in Fire Protection Engineering or a related discipline
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering field from an ABET-accredited university
  • Minimum of 4 years of fire protection engineering experience or related experience as an EIT
  • Strong understanding of NFPA codes and standards, building codes, and life safety systems
  • Experience with fire sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, and code consulting
  • Experience with hydraulic calculations, fire modeling, and CAD-based design documents preferred
  • Strong communication and client relationship skills
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout South Florida as needed

Why Engineers Choose Wiginton

  • 100% employee-owned ESOP company with long-term retirement wealth building potential
  • Opportunity to help shape and grow a developing engineering division rather than being just another number in a large corporate structure
  • Direct involvement in high-profile and technically challenging projects
  • Strong collaboration between engineering, fabrication, operations, inspections, service, and field teams
  • Career growth opportunities into leadership and strategic engineering roles
  • Support for continuing education, licensing, and professional development
  • Opportunity to participate in NFPA involvement, industry engagement, and technical innovation
  • Flexible and entrepreneurial environment where your input directly impacts company growth
  • Established company with nearly 60 years of industry experience and financial stability
  • Access to diverse project types, including industrial, mission-critical, healthcare, commercial, high-rise, and specialty hazard systems

Benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • ESOP retirement ownership program
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Company-paid life insurance
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • Continuing education and professional license support
  • Relocation assistance may be available for the right candidate
  • Company technology and vehicle allowance options based on role requirements
