Job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Working Fire Protection Superintendent to lead and oversee fire protection projects within the construction and service industry. In this pivotal role, you will coordinate the planning, execution, and supervision of fire suppression system projects while ensuring all work complies with safety standards, project specifications, and client expectations.

Your leadership will drive project success from inception to completion, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and efficiency across all phases of construction. This position also requires performing service work, inspections, and contract field work as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise fire protection installation teams on construction sites while ensuring adherence to project schedules, budgets, and safety protocols.

  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to develop and maintain project schedules.

  • Review blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure accurate installation of fire suppression systems.

  • Manage material procurement and tracking using construction management software.

  • Conduct quality control inspections to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, building codes, and project specifications.

  • Enforce job site safety standards and conduct regular safety audits.

  • Prepare project progress reports, budget updates, and safety documentation.

  • Review contracts and change orders related to fire protection work.

  • Perform testing of fire alarm systems using appropriate electrical testing equipment.

  • Maintain effective communication with project teams, clients, vendors, inspectors, and regulatory agencies.

  • Perform service work, inspections, troubleshooting, and field support as required.

Qualifications
  • Proven experience supervising fire protection or commercial construction projects.

  • Strong knowledge of construction scheduling, budgeting, and contract administration.

  • Extensive hands-on construction site experience.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.

  • Experience with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, HeavyBid, or similar platforms.

  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing field crews.

  • Thorough understanding of OSHA safety standards and job site safety practices.

  • Experience with fire sprinkler systems, fire suppression systems, fire alarm systems, piping, and related equipment.

  • Ability to use electrical testing equipment, including ohmmeters, for system verification.

  • Experience with estimating and managing fire protection project costs is preferred.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
