Job Summary:

CJ Suppression is looking for a full-time Fire Sprinkler Service Fitter who will be responsible for installing, modifying, and repairing fire sprinkler systems. Fire sprinkler systems can mean life and death, so quality work and attention to detail are important. The fire sprinkler service fitter's duties include interpreting work specifications and fire codes, ensuring the installation meets NFPA13 specifications, coaching apprentices, following workplace procedures, and adhering to company safety policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Installation, modifications, and repairs of fire sprinkler systems.
  • Follow safety regulations, including wearing safety equipment.
  • Follow the company and industry standardized practices and/or methods.
  • Fill out work tickets and submit them when work is completed.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate written and electronic documentation (timesheets, work tickets, inspection reports, etc.).
  • Solve practical problems and create action plans.
  • Work under limited supervision.
  • Train and coach fire sprinkler apprentice(s).
  • Attend training, safety, and education meetings to enhance knowledge of safety concerns and resolve related issues.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of fire sprinkler installation experience.
  • Knowledge of NFPA13, 25, and California Fire Code.
  • Must be able to drive a company vehicle and travel to various job sites as part of essential duties.
  • Ability to meet company driving eligibility requirements, including holding a valid driver's license and maintaining an acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Valid Cal Fire fitter certification preferred.
  • Basic understanding of measurements.
  • Ability to read and understand inspection reports, product specification sheets, O&M manuals, drawings, blueprints, and fire codes.
  • Complete knowledge of operating various electrical and mechanical tools such as saws, wrenches, cutting torches, drills, pipe threaders, lifts, ladders, and motor vehicles.
  • Ability to adhere to safety practices.
  • Available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed,
  • Knowledge of how to safely operate a pipe threading machine.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with clients and fellow team members.
  • Flexibility to work with others in a variety of circumstances.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions.

This pay range reflects the compensation rate Fortis Fire & Safety reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of posting. $28—$45 USD

This role may require extended periods of sitting or standing, movement around the office or job site, and operation of standard equipment. Physical activities can include reaching, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 75 lbs. Field positions may involve heavy lifting, working in varying climates (including outdoor conditions), construction or low-voltage environments, and exposure to dust, noise, or confined spaces. Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required. Some roles may require travel.
