Position Overview:
Silco Fire amp; Security is seeking a dependable and experienced Fire Sprinkler Service Technician to support our inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair operations. This role is focused on ensuring fire sprinkler systems are fully operational, code-compliant, and ready to perform as designed. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge of water-based fire protection systems and takes pride in quality service and customer communication.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform scheduled inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems in accordance with NFPA standards, local codes, and company procedures.
  • Inspect system components including control valves, gauges, piping, hangers, fire department connections, alarms, and water supplies.
  • Conduct functional testing of sprinkler system devices and supervisory components to verify proper operation.
  • Troubleshoot system deficiencies, leaks, impairments, and mechanical issues, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
  • Perform service and repair work on sprinkler system components such as valves, trim, fittings, and alarm devices.
  • Accurately document inspection findings, test results, deficiencies, and repairs using required reports and software systems.
  • Communicate inspection results, code deficiencies, and recommended repairs clearly and professionally to customers.
  • Coordinate with service managers, inspectors, and other technicians to prioritize service calls and impairment restoration.
  • Maintain compliance with safety requirements, including lockout/tagout procedures, hot work policies, and jobsite safety standards.
  • Represent Silco Fire amp; Security in a professional manner while delivering reliable, customer-focused service.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; fire protection or technical training preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in fire sprinkler inspection, testing, service, or repair. Kentucky Sprinkler Inspection License or NICET II.
  • Working knowledge of water-based fire protection systems and applicable NFPA standards (including NFPA 13, 25, and 72 as applicable).
  • Ability to read and interpret system drawings, inspection reports, and code requirements.
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment related to sprinkler service work.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including customer interaction and report completion.
  • Ability to work independently in the field while maintaining productivity and compliance expectations.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training, certifications, and continuing education.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to climb ladders, use lifts, and work at various heights.
  • Able to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and crouching throughout the workday.
  • Must have good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for handling small components and tools.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces or outdoor environments as needed.
  • Requires occasional pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead.
  • Must be able to wear and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Capable of driving company vehicles and transporting equipment or materials when needed.
  • Ability to remain alert and focused while performing detailed or repetitive tasks.
