Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Adjunct Instructor - Fire Science Technology, Dual Enrollment (Part-Time) positions in the Health and Public Safety Technologies Division. This position is located on Atlanta Tech's Main Campus, just South of Downtown Atlanta.
Under general supervision of the Dean of Health and Public Safety technologies and the EMT / Fire Department Chairperson, the Adjunct Instructors - Fire, Dual Enrollment (Part-Time) will include both lecture and laboratory activities and may involve Internet courses in the Fire Science Technology program. This will include flexible schedule of lectures (face to face, asynchronous or synchronous) and/or laboratory. Under general supervision of the program chairperson, the Adjunct Instructors - Fire, Dual Enrollment (Part-Time) instructs and supervises students in the Fire Science Technology program. Additionally, the instructors will be required to meet the needs of our students that may require them to teach courses during the day, evening, and weekend hours. This is a part-time position, working up to twenty-nine (29) hours per week.
These positions are responsible for the following duties (some duties may change based on the needs of the program):
COMPETENCIES:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess and demonstrate a Bachelor's degree in Fire Science Technology, Fire Administrative or Leadership or other related Public Safety field from a regionally accredited institution AND three - five (3-5) years of proven work experience as a Fire Officer (ranked as Lieutenant or higher) or in a Fire Leadership/Instructor role;
OR
Associate's degree in Fire Science Technology or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution AND work experience ranked as Fire Lieutenant or higher or serving in a Fire Leadership/Instructor role with a department for five (5) or more years; Certification as a Georgia Firefighter or eligibility for certification, Pro-Board (NPQ) Fire Instructor II; Pro-Board (NPQ) Evaluator certification required. A proven track record of effective instruction in Fire Science with the ability to utilize contemporary technology, is a plus.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess and demonstrate a Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum of eighteen (18) graduate level credits in the discipline of Fire related; Seven (7) or more years of proven work experience as a Fire Officer or Fire Leadership.
