Job description

Position Summary

The Fire Protection Senior VDC Support Specialist serves as the primary technology resource for Fire Protection design, detailing, fabrication, and construction teams. This role supports the administration, deployment, optimization, and continuous improvement of Fire Protection technologies, workflows, content, and standards. Working closely with Fire Protection leadership, project teams, and enterprise technology groups, the Fire Protection Senior VDC Support Specialist helps ensure systems, data, and processes remain aligned with business objectives while improving consistency, efficiency, and project execution across the organization. 

Position Details

  • Relationship Building and Management 
    • Build strong working relationships with Fire Protection designers, engineers, detailers, project managers, fabrication teams, and field personnel.  
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for Fire Protection technology support, workflow guidance, and standards implementation.  
    • Collaborate with enterprise technology teams to align Fire Protection needs with broader organizational initiatives.  
    • Partner with software vendors and internal stakeholders to evaluate enhancements, resolve issues, and improve user adoption.  
    • Support communication, training, and change management efforts related to Fire Protection technologies and workflows. 
  • Workflow Optimization 
    • Support and improve Fire Protection design-to-fabrication and design-to-construction workflows.  
    • Identify workflow inefficiencies and develop practical solutions to improve project execution.  
    • Assist with implementation and adoption of company standards, best practices, and operational procedures.  
    • Evaluate project workflows and recommend improvements that increase productivity, consistency, and quality.  
    • Support project teams with BIM execution plans, coordination requirements, and client-specific deliverables. 
  • Technology Deployment 
    • Administer and support Fire Protection software platforms including Revit, AutoSprink, AutoFab, Navisworks, Revizto, Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Stratus, and related applications.  
    • Support software deployment, configuration, testing, upgrades, and implementation activities.  
    • Manage Fire Protection BIM content libraries, templates, project standards, and supporting resources.  
    • Assist with development, testing, and deployment of automation tools and workflow enhancements.  
    • Research emerging technologies and support evaluation of new solutions that improve Fire Protection operations. 
  • Change Management 
    • Support rollout of new technologies, workflows, and standards across Fire Protection teams.  
    • Develop training materials, documentation, and support resources to improve user adoption.  
    • Assist with organizational readiness efforts for new software and process implementations.  
    • Promote consistent use of approved technologies, standards, and workflows.  
    • Gather user feedback and translate business needs into actionable improvements. 
  • Support and Documentation 
    • Provide day-to-day technical support for Fire Protection software, platforms, and workflows.  
    • Troubleshoot software, model, content, and project-related issues.  
    • Maintain documentation for standards, workflows, software configurations, and best practices.  
    • Support project setup, model maintenance, file management, and data organization activities.  
    • Assist teams with project deliverables, quality reviews, and compliance with company standards.  
    • Perform QA/QC reviews of content and models to ensure accuracy and consistency. 
  • Strategic Planning & Governance 
    • Provide day-to-day technical support for Fire Protection software, platforms, and workflows.  
    • Support development and maintenance of Fire Protection technology standards and governance practices.  
    • Participate in long-term planning initiatives related to software, content, automation, and workflow improvements.  
    • Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies impacting Fire Protection design and construction.  
    • Assist with roadmap development for Fire Protection technology investments and enhancements.  
    • Support data-driven decision making by identifying opportunities for standardization, automation, and operational improvement. 

Qualifications 

  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to learn quickly and take initiative. 
  • Strong understanding of Fire Protection design, detailing, fabrication, or construction workflows.  
  • Working knowledge of BIM and VDC technologies including Revit, Navisworks, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and Bluebeam.  
  • Experience supporting Fire Protection software such as AutoSprink, AutoFab, HydraCAD, or similar platforms preferred.  
  • Ability to troubleshoot software, workflow, and project execution challenges in a fast-paced environment.  
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain detailed documentation.  
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.  
  • Experience developing standards, workflows, training materials, or technical documentation preferred.  
  • Interest in process improvement, automation, and emerging technologies.  
  • Ability to build relationships and influence adoption across multiple teams and stakeholders.  
  • Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field preferred.  
  • 5+ years of relevant experience supporting Fire Protection, BIM, VDC, engineering, detailing, fabrication, or construction technologies.
