Job description

Davis-Ulmer (DU) Family of Companies is a network of fire protection, life safety, and security service companies, protecting people and property across 30+ locations and 11 states. W&M Fire Protection, a division of the DU Family of Companies, was founded in 1993 and serves the tristate and New England regions as a full-service fire protection contractor specializing in the design, installation, fabrication, inspection, and maintenance of fire sprinkler, fire alarm, special hazard, and life safety systems. Built on decades of engineering and contracting expertise, W&M has earned a strong reputation as a reliable partner for both new construction and service work. Living the motto, "we protect what you value most," W&M Fire Protection offers a challenging and rewarding work environment for those passionate about keeping communities safe.

Due to continued growth, we are looking to add a Sales Executive to our Plantsville, CT team. In this role, you will drive new business by selling fire alarm system installations and upgrades to end users and electrical contractors, bringing a proactive "Hunter" mindset to identify, pursue, and close opportunities. Success in this role requires a self-motivated relationship builder with strong technical knowledge of fire alarm systems and the ability to manage projects from concept through completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively Hunt for Opportunities: Identify and pursue new fire alarm installation and upgrade prospects among end users and electrical contractors.
  • Build Strategic Relationships: Develop and maintain long-term partnerships with clients, contractors, and industry stakeholders.
  • Bid Development: Prepare competitive bids for "parts & smarts" fire alarm work, including performing "take offs" on plans and specifications.
  • Project Oversight: Guide projects from concept to completion, ensuring quality and customer satisfaction throughout.
  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure all work adheres to NFPA 72 and applicable codes and standards.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with internal departments to deliver seamless project execution.
  • Client Engagement: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the sales and project lifecycle.
  • Performance Tracking: Report progress and results to the A&D Department Leader.
  • Other Responsibilities: Perform additional duties as assigned to support team and company goals.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of fire alarm sales and/or project management experience in a "Hunter" sales environment.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or higher a plus.
  • Sales Acumen: Proven ability to identify, pursue, and close new business.
  • Technical Expertise: Working knowledge of fire alarm systems, NFPA 72, "parts & smarts" bidding, and performing "take offs."
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Relationship Building: Skilled at cultivating and maintaining client and contractor relationships.
  • Self-Motivation: Driven, independent, and results-oriented.
  • A valid driver's license is required.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Ability to travel to client sites, job sites, and project locations as needed.
  • Ability to navigate active construction environments, which may include exposure to varying conditions.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and drive for extended periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry materials or equipment as needed.

The salary for this role is $85,000 to $125,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.

As part of the DU Family of Companies, we believe that empowering and investing in our people is the foundation of our success. The Davis-Ulmer difference is our commitment to developing our employees, fostering a culture of collaboration, and providing meaningful opportunities for long-term career growth.

Why Choose DU Family of Companies?

  • Competitive Compensation: We offer a competitive salary based on your experience and qualifications.
  • Comprehensive Benefits Package: Including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) with company match, paid time off, and more.
  • Strength of the Family: As part of a growing network of fire protection, life safety, and security companies, you'll have access to shared resources, expertise, and opportunities.
  • Backed by APi Group: As a company powered by APi Group, we combine local expertise with the strength and stability of a global leader.
  • Long-Term Career Relationships: We are proud of our tenured workforce, with many employees enjoying rewarding careers of 20+ years.
