Job description

Job Summary
  • Develop, design and plan initial plumbing and fire protection system concepts and project specifications
  • Prepare calculations, reports
  • Perform fire suppression system selection, preliminary designs, and performance specifications
  • Consult on areas such as preparation of existing facility diligence, sustainability analyses, and feasibility reports
  • Producing drawings consistent with client requirements and standards
  • Ensure designs comply with company standards and procedures
  • Review QA/QC drawings for the PFP team
  • Attend client meetings with Project Managers
  • Participate in Inter-Departmental Project Management Meetings
  • Mentor junior plumbing/fire protection engineers and designers

Qualifications
  • Advanced communication, time management, and attention to detail skills
  • Ability to quickly build effective working relationships
  • Capable of managing high pressure, deadline driven situations and dealing with changes.
  • Engineering degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Strong technical skills. AutoCAD and/or Revit experience
  • 5+ years relevant industry experience
  • Knowledge of the various applications of fire suppression systems, Mechanical / Plumbing trades, building codes, and drawings / documents
  • Knowledge of equipment from various manufacturers and the ability to make proper selections independently
  • Ability to independently perform fire suppression hydraulic calculations to support design and estimate construction costs and evaluate feasibility of construction
