Job description

Leading architectural and engineering firm is adding a Fire Protection Engineer to their Boston team!



Responsibilities:
  • Design/review fire protection and life safety systems
  • Coordinate project with other disciplines
  • Participate in design review meetings
  • Prepare comprehensive fire protection packages (fire suppression, fire alarm, smoke management and life safety)
  • Create specification documentation and perform calculations for fire suppression and alarm systems
  • Evaluate building/life safety requirements
  • Perform construction administration duties
  • Coordinate approval for all stages of project with local authorities
  • Perform site evaluations and document existing fire protection systems
  • Comply with company and site safety policies


Requirements:

  • B.S. Degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related degree from ABET accredited program
  • Master’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering preferred
  • 8+ years of fire protection engineering experience
  • Registered Fire Protection PE
  • Proficient in standard engineering techniques/procedures
  • Knowledge of the International Code Council (ICC), NFPA 101, NFPA 13, and NFPA 72
  • NICET certification in Water-Based System Layout, Fire Alarm Systems, or Special Hazards Systems a plus (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies)
  • Working knowledge of building codes, fire codes, NFPA standards, FM Global datasheets, military standards, and refinery/industrial API guidelines
  • Experience with Revit, BIM, and Microsoft Office skills
