Responsible for inspection, service and repair of Wet, Dry, Pre-action, Deluge and Foam systems; Testing, rebuilding and/or replacing Backflow Preventers. Responsible for identifying trouble areas and performing service in an efficient and professional manner to ensure that sprinkler systems are operating properly. We seek a self-motivated, customer service-oriented lead technician. The ideal candidate will be organized, professional, and a good communicator. This important position will establish a rapport and build positive relationships with our customers.
$10,000 sign-on bonus based on experience!
Responsibilities include:
Sprinkler and Backflow Systems Installation, Repair, & Service:
  • Perform fire sprinkler inspections and services per NFPA and engineering guidelines.
  • Inspect and service wet, dry, pre-action, deluge and foam systems as needed.
  • Repair and/or replace all sprinkler systems components.
  • Repair, replace and rebuild backflow preventers as necessary.
  • Verify proper communication with monitoring station when working on a monitored system after repair.
  • Perform system tests to verify alarm & sprinkler systems are working properly upon completion of repair.
  • Report Deficiencies to Department Manager.

Job, Inventory, and Vehicle Preparation Duties:
  • Prepare sprinkler pipe, using threader when needed, and stock truck with inventory required to perform the job.
  • Work efficiently and utilize resources to complete jobs in a timely manner.
  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance and keep work truck clean and organized.
  • Manage inventory and tools for each job to assure proper parts and tools are on hand.
  • Collaborate with general contractors as necessary.
  • Complete NFPA certification and life safety testing, maintaining current knowledge of NFPA code.

Essential Functions
  • Perform disassembly, inspection and repair of sprinkler and backflow valves (once receiving license).
  • Verify proper communication with monitoring station when working on a monitored system after repair.
  • Perform system tests to verify alarm & sprinkler systems are working properly upon completion of repair.
  • Perform visual inspection of sprinkler and fire suppression systems checking the systems components from ground level.
  • Perform inspection of wet, dry, pre-action, deluge and foam systems.
  • Exercise, turn, and lubricate sprinkler system valves.
  • Read gauges and record information, noting deficiencies and ensuring pressures are within acceptable levels.
  • Run main drain tests on all risers.
  • Perform testing of control valve function.
  • Trip, observe, and reset Dry Valves.
  • Test RP, DC, & RVB Backflow system functions and note deficiencies.
  • Perform water flow testing on sprinkler system.
  • Prepare sprinkler pipe, using threader when needed, and stock truck with inventory required to perform the job.
  • Complete NFPA certification and life safety testing, maintaining current knowledge of NFPA code.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • TQP License is required.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years field experience in Fire Sprinkler Inspections and service.
  • Must have or be able & willing to attain state Sprinkler and/or Backflow License.
  • Ability to adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and driving record that meets company requirements.
  • Fire and /or Life Safety Systems experience
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to exercise effective time management skills (prioritize, work on a time-line).
  • Must have a strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Must be able to visually inspect and service sprinkler and backflow systems.
  • Must be able to recognize alarm sights and sounds.
  • Strong working knowledge of NFPA codes.
  • May (often will) require ability to effectively use a Sprinkler Pipe Threader .
  • Must be able to effectively use backflow tester, pipe wrench, various lifts and common pipe fitting tools.
  • Must be able to safely and effectively use general hand tools and power tools\Must be capable of using various Arial lifts and boom trucks.
  • Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to push and pull greater than 75 pounds as needed.
  • Must be able to safely use and climb a ladder and reach a height of at least 24 feet.
  • Must be able, on a regular basis, work comfortably at a height of greater than 26 feet. (common elevation of systems is 26 feet and higher.)

Preferred Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of proven success in performance of Sprinkler inspection, installation, and service is highly preferred.
  • NICET Certification in Inspection & Testing of Water-Based Systems and/or Water-Based Systems Layout, preferred.

Successful completion of a drug test and pre-employment background screening is required. MVR checks are required for all driving positions.
