What are fire pits?

Fire pits are specially designed structures or containers used to safely contain and maintain outdoor fires. They can be built into the ground, made from materials like stone or metal, or be portable, above-ground units. Fire pits are commonly used for warmth, outdoor cooking, or creating a cozy atmosphere in backyards and other outdoor spaces. They come in various styles such as wood-burning, propane, or natural gas. Safety precautions should always be followed when using a fire pit.

What is the difference between Fire Pit vs Fire Safety Technician?

While a fire pit is a decorative or functional outdoor feature used for warmth and ambiance, a fire safety technician specializes in ensuring fire safety standards are met, often working in industrial or commercial environments. The two roles differ significantly in credentials, work environment, and industry usage, but both relate to fire management and safety.

What are some common safety challenges faced by fire pit operators, and how can these be addressed on the job?

Fire pit operators often encounter safety challenges such as managing open flames, preventing accidental burns, and ensuring that combustible materials are handled properly. To address these risks, operators typically follow strict safety protocols, including maintaining clear zones around the fire, using protective gear, and staying up to date on fire safety training. Collaboration with team members is essential to monitor the environment and quickly respond to any hazards, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Firefighter, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Firefighter, you need strong physical fitness, emergency response training, and typically a high school diploma with completion of fire academy certification. Familiarity with firefighting equipment, breathing apparatus, and first aid/CPR certifications are commonly required. Teamwork, quick decision-making, and resilience under pressure are vital soft skills in this role. These capabilities are crucial for ensuring public safety, effective emergency response, and personal well-being in dangerous situations.

Job description

Houseperson/Public Space Attendant โ€“ The Ozarker Lodge, Branson, MO

About Us:
The Ozarker Lodge is where modern lodge meets nostalgic Ozarks charm. Tucked in the heart of Branson, we blend rugged comfort with thoughtful design and warm hospitality. As a proud part of the Springboard Hospitality portfolio, we offer a distinct, experience-first atmosphere where guests reconnect with nature, each other, and themselves.

Our team lives the Ozarker spiritโ€”hardworking, down-to-earth, and always ready to lend a hand. Whether we're prepping sโ€™mores kits or keeping our lodge sparkling clean, everything we do centers around delivering meaningful guest experiences in a space that feels like homeโ€”just with a better view.

Position Overview: Houseperson/Public Space

As a Houseperson at The Ozarker Lodge, you play a key supporting role in our housekeeping and guest experience teams. You help ensure public areas, guest room hallways, and back-of-house spaces are clean, well-stocked, and ready for our guests and staff. Youโ€™re an extra set of handsโ€”and eyesโ€”for our room attendants, helping keep operations flowing smoothly and guests feeling taken care of. Youโ€™ll also assist with special requests, food & beverage service during our fire pit experiences, and occasional setting up for group stays or events.

This is a great fit for someone who takes pride in being helpful, doesnโ€™t mind staying active, and enjoys working in a beautiful outdoor-leaning environment with a close-knit team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain cleanliness and appearance of guest corridors, stairwells, lobby restrooms, and other public areas throughout the day
  • Collect used linens, trash, and recycling from housekeeping closets and guest areas and deliver to proper facilities
  • Restock housekeeping closets and carts with linens, amenities, and supplies
  • Respond to guest and team member requests promptly and in a friendly, courteous manner
  • Deliver items to guest rooms as requested (e.g., rollaway beds, extra towels, cribs, etc.)
  • Assist room attendants as needed, especially during high occupancy days
  • Report maintenance issues, safety concerns, or guest complaints to the Housekeeping Manager
  • Support delivery and service of food and beverage items during special experiences like our evening fire pit packages
  • Complete Missouri SMART alcohol training and obtain a Missouri food handler permit (The Ozarker Lodge will provide assistance in obtaining these certifications)
  • Occasionally help with setups for group bookings, events, or seasonal lodge experiences (like firepit prep or sโ€™mores kits)
  • Embrace and model a team-first attitude while upholding The Ozarker Lodgeโ€™s brand and service standards

Requirements:

  • Able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods
  • Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Positive, guest-first mindset with a strong attention to detail
  • Able to communicate clearly and respectfully with team members and guests
  • Willingness to complete Missouri SMART alcohol training and obtain a Missouri food handler permit (we'll help you with both)
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays, based on business needs

Bonus Points If You:

  • Have previous hotel, housekeeping, or food & beverage experience
  • Enjoy working in a hospitality environment that blends rustic nature with modern touches
  • Know how to make a room (or a fire pit gathering) feel โ€œjust rightโ€ for a guest

Join us at The Ozarker Lodge and be part of a team that cares deeply about what we do, how we treat each other, and the kind of experience we create together. Whether you're just starting your hospitality journey or looking to grow within a unique, branded hotel, weโ€™d love to meet you.
