What You Will be Doing:
As a Senior Fire Protection Code Consultant at Interface Engineering, your responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:
  • Provide fire protection code consulting services for clients and internal multi-discipline teams.
  • Identify, apply, and interpret applicable codes and standards to develop compliance strategies for building designs and features.
  • Develop solutions that afford a degree of fire protection/life safety that meet or exceed code intent.
  • Provide code consulting services on large, complex projects including code analysis, drawing review and development of code compliance approaches.
  • Develop performance-based solutions
  • Routinely perform building investigation and evaluation (I amp;E) studies for existing building renovation/alteration projects.
  • Fire sprinkler system design
  • Water-based or special hazard-based fire protection systems design
  • Hydraulic and water supply calculations
  • Commissioning in fire alarm and fire protection systems
  • Building code analysis
  • Due diligence report generation
  • Evaluation of existing building fire protection and alarm systems
  • Client interaction
  • Multi-discipline coordination
  • Product selection and evaluation
  • Project specifications development
  • Providing exemplary service to fellow team members and clients
  • Fire and smoke modeling
  • Smoke control rational analysis development
To Qualify for Application:
The successful Fire Protection Engineer candidate should have:
  • 8+ yearsโ€™ experience in fire protection system consulting and design.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA standards and I-Codes.
  • Specialization in code consulting, fire alarm/sprinkler systems, and other water-based systems design.
  • Excellent time management and communication abilities.
  • Previous project management and/or design lead experience.
  • Willingness to travel for site visits, meetings, and witness testing.
  • Working knowledge of computer aided design programs (Revit, Autosprink for Revit, AutoCAD).
To Be Competitive for this Role:
Preferred qualifications include:
  • EIT or PE in Fire Protection
  • Associates or bachelorโ€™s degree in Fire/Mech/Elec Engineering
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft suite of programs
