What is a fire code plan examiner?

A Fire Code Plan Examiner is a professional responsible for reviewing building plans and construction documents to ensure they comply with fire safety codes and regulations. They analyze architectural and engineering drawings to check for proper fire protection measures such as alarms, sprinklers, egress routes, and fire-resistant materials. Their work helps prevent fires and ensures the safety of occupants in new and renovated buildings. Fire Code Plan Examiners typically work for government agencies or fire departments and collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors throughout the permitting process.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a fire code plan examiner?
