Fintech Writer information

What is a fintech writer?

Fintech writers are professionals who specialize in creating content about financial technology, or fintech, which includes topics like digital banking, cryptocurrencies, online payments, and financial regulations. They produce articles, reports, blogs, and other materials aimed at educating or informing readers about the latest trends and developments in the fintech industry. These writers often have a background in finance, technology, or journalism, and must stay updated on rapidly changing fintech innovations. Their work helps businesses communicate complex financial concepts in ways that are accessible to both industry professionals and the general public.

What are some unique challenges fintech writers face when covering rapidly evolving technologies and regulations?

Fintech Writers often encounter the challenge of staying current with fast-changing technologies and regulatory landscapes. This requires continuous research and adaptability, as new innovations and compliance requirements can quickly render previously accurate information outdated. Writers must be able to translate complex technical and legal concepts into clear, engaging content for varied audiences, balancing accuracy with accessibility. Collaboration with subject matter experts and legal teams is common to ensure content reflects the latest industry standards and developments.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a fintech writer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Fintech Writer, you need expertise in financial concepts, industry trends, and strong writing abilities, often supported by a background in finance, journalism, or communications. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), SEO tools, and financial data platforms is typically required. Attention to detail, adaptability, and the ability to distill complex topics into clear, engaging content are standout soft skills. These competencies ensure the writer can accurately inform and engage diverse audiences in a rapidly evolving fintech landscape.

About your role:

You will design, develop, and maintain software applications across the Issuer Solutions portfolio. Your work will strengthen architecture consistency, software delivery practices, and adoption of artificial intelligence-assisted engineering workflows.

What you'll do:

  • Conduct solution architecture reviews, code reviews, and design consultations for teams building in Java, Spring Boot, .NET, Angular, Python, and related technologies.
  • Create reusable patterns, reference implementations, and technical decision frameworks that improve consistency and support independent team execution.
  • Translate enterprise platform, cloud, security, and artificial intelligence center of excellence guidance into actionable engineering practices for delivery teams.
  • Champion adoption of artificial intelligence-assisted engineering workflows and developer tools, measuring impact on software quality, efficiency, and delivery throughput.
  • Prototype solutions, build internal tools, and contribute to critical-path code to accelerate delivery and resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Identify systemic quality issues across the portfolio and implement solutions that improve defect escape rates, lead time, and production outcomes.
  • Deliver technical training, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing forums that strengthen architectural thinking, production ownership, and artificial intelligence fluency across engineering teams.
  • Responsibilities listed are not intended to be all-inclusive and may be modified as necessary.

Experience you'll need to have:

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, including designing, developing, and supporting enterprise software applications across modern technology stacks.
  • 8+ years of experience with Java, Spring Boot, Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), or similar enterprise frameworks for microservices, representational state transfer (REST) application programming interfaces (APIs), Java Persistence API (JPA), Hibernate, and messaging-based systems.
  • 4+ years of experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices using tools such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, and automated testing frameworks.
  • 4+ years of experience working in cloud-native and containerized environments using Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or similar technologies.
  • 4+ years of experience using relational and NoSQL databases in enterprise application environments.
  • Experience adopting and scaling artificial intelligence-assisted development tools to improve measurable engineering outcomes across teams.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, related experience and/or military experience.

Experience that would be great to have:

  • Experience influencing engineering quality, architecture direction, and delivery practices across teams without direct reporting authority.
  • Experience with application security practices including OAuth 2.0, JSON Web Token (JWT), transport layer security (TLS), secrets management, and vulnerability remediation workflows.
  • Experience in financial services or financial technology environments.
  • Experience delivering technical presentations, workshops, and written guidance for engineering and leadership audiences.

How you'll work:

This role is on-site Monday through Friday. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experiences help you with your overall onboarding experience and leads to stronger productivity.
