You'll partner closely with Engineering, Finance, and Cloud Platform teams to embed cost awareness into the development lifecycle and drive a culture of accountability and optimization.

What You'll Do:

AWS Cost Engineering & Optimization

  • Develop and maintain automated solutions to monitor, analyze, and optimize AWS spend across accounts and services

  • Automate cost allocation, tagging enforcement, and chargeback/showback models
  • Integrate AWS billing data into centralized data platforms for analytics and reporting

Data, Reporting & Forecasting

  • Build scalable dashboards and reporting systems using tools like QuickSight, Tableau, or Power BI
  • Develop forecasting models and anomaly detection systems for cloud spend
  • Enable self-service cost insights for engineering and business teams

Governance & Best Practices

  • Establish and enforce cloud cost governance frameworks, tagging standards, and policies
  • Embed FinOps principles into CI/CD pipelines and engineering workflows
  • Drive adoption of cost optimization best practices across teams

Collaboration & Enablement

  • Partner with Finance to align cloud usage with budgets and forecasts
  • Work with Engineering teams to balance cost, performance, and scalability
  • Educate teams on AWS cost management and FinOps principles

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • AWS certification (e.g., Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer)
  • 3-5+ years of experience in FinOps, cloud engineering, or cloud cost optimization
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS services, pricing models, and billing architecture
  • Experience with cost tools such as AWS Cost Explorer, Harness CCM, Apptio, CloudCheckr or similar
  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools such as Python, SQL, Power BI, or Excel
  • Experience building data pipelines, dashboards, and financial models
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture and distributed systems
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in software engineering or platform engineering
  • Experience with AWS-native services (e.g., Cost & Usage Reports, QuickSight)
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Experience implementing automated governance and policy enforcement
  • FinOps certifications (e.g., FinOps Practitioner)

What Sets You Apart

  • You think like an engineer first-automating everything possible
  • You bring a product mindset to internal FinOps tooling
  • You can bridge finance, data, and engineering seamlessly
  • You proactively identify opportunities and drive them to execution
