JOB SUMMARY: This supervisor is responsible for the leadership and direction of the Face Finishing areas at Granite West, ensuring they meet quality, cost and delivery expectations. This position is also responsible for the technical leadership of Finishing applications and capability at the corporate level, assisting those areas in meeting their quality and cost expectations, with a focus of Finish consistency across facilities and locations.


WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Identify and eliminate potential safety hazards and issues.
  • Provide appropriate coaching and direction to other Finishing operations in the Corporation to assist those operations to meet quality, delivery and cost expectations.
  • Serves as Project Manager on all Process Changes relating to Face Finishing and/or Finishing changes/improvements. Sees those Process Changes through to completion, including the facilitation of Finishing capability beyond just Face Finish application.
  • Monitors shop floor daily activities to identify performance issues and works with employees to solve these issues and create opportunities for success.
  • Performs performance appraisals on every direct report every quarter.
  • Participates in daily supervisor/production meetings.
  • Conducts daily shift meetings.
  • Ensure all training is current and that they possess the needed skills to perform the job.
  • Monitor/Review/Coach the implementation of daily productivity improvements to ensure corporate goals are met.
  • Monitor/Review/Coach to ensure head count matches revenue and revenue per hour goals are being met.
  • Review internal and external cost of quality reports and take action on a daily basis to identify and correct quality issues.
  • Lead bi-weekly CIT meetings.
  • Monitor/Review/Coach on QCDSM Boards and AR compliance and completion.
  • Facilitate the execution of any kaizen event in area of responsibility and minimally participate in one (1) event annually.
  • Monitor/Review/Coach on 5S compliance and conduct monthly 5S audit.
  • Monitor/Review/Coach on daily TPM improvement opportunities.
  • Work with Cold Spring Plant Manager on controlling all department costs and developing metrics to track these costs to      contain and improve.
  • Monitor all major repairs in area of responsibility.
  • Approximately 80% of this position’s time is spent on the production floor and the other 20% in the office.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred, High School Diploma plus appropriate experience is acceptable.
  •  3-5 years of experience
  • Must possess good verbal and written communication skills, goal oriented, ability to understand and create performance metrics for quality, cost and delivery, document and implement safety, 5S, TPM, quality, and production related work instructions
  • Understand the AFE, cost, and purchasing systems, have a lean manufacturing discipline
  • The ability to lead and direct people. 
  • Extensive and thorough knowledge of Face Finishing Operations, Capability and Maintenance
