Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills are essential, as even small mistakes can impact the overall quality and aesthetics of the finished work.

Are finish carpenters in demand?

Finish carpenters are in steady demand due to ongoing residential and commercial construction, remodeling, and renovation projects. Their skills in installing trim, cabinetry, and custom woodwork are valued, and employment opportunities are expected to grow as the construction industry expands.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Finish Carpenter, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Finish Carpenter, you need expertise in woodworking, measuring, blueprint reading, and the use of hand and power tools, often gained through vocational training or apprenticeships. Familiarity with carpentry tools like miter saws, nail guns, and wood finishing products, as well as OSHA safety certifications, is typically expected. Attention to detail, problem-solving, and effective communication with clients and team members are critical soft skills. These competencies ensure high-quality craftsmanship, safe work practices, and customer satisfaction in finish carpentry projects.

What is the highest paying carpenter job?

The highest paying carpenter jobs are often in specialized fields such as commercial or industrial carpentry, including roles like construction managers or project superintendents with extensive experience and certifications. Master carpenters with advanced skills in custom cabinetry, historic restoration, or working on high-end projects can also command higher wages. These roles typically require additional training, leadership skills, and sometimes union membership or licensing.

Ozzy's Golden Construction

Interior Carpenter

Specializing in Finish Carpentry for Luxury Custom Homes

Location: Miami, FL

Deliver high-quality finish carpentry for luxury homes.

Ozzy's Golden Construction is building an elite in-house crew for luxury custom homes across South Florida. We are hiring a full-time Interior Carpenter who specializes in finish carpentry. This person's daily work is interior construction alongside the interior crew. When finish carpentry phases come up -- doors, trim, crown, millwork installation -- they spearhead that scope and deliver flawless results.

Key Responsibilities

MAIN FUNCTION -- Interior Crew Carpenter

This is your daily work. You operate as a full member of the interior crew across all post-dry-in scopes:

  • Metal framing (steel studs, hat channel, soffits)
  • Wood framing (interior partitions, headers)
  • Drywall hanging and finishing (Level 4-5 finish preferred)
  • Interior painting (cutting in, rolling, spray work)
  • Demo, prep, cleanup, and general interior support
  • This is not occasional support -- it is the primary daily function of the role

SPECIALTY -- Finish Carpentry, Doors & Trim

When the project reaches the finish carpentry phase, you lead this scope to luxury standards:

  • Door Hanging: Pre-hung and slab doors. Plumb, square, consistent reveals on first install. Experience with 8' and 10' tall doors, pivot door systems, and concealed/European hinge hardware.
  • Baseboard & Casing: Tight miters (1/16" tolerance), clean caulk lines, consistent reveals. Luxury standards where the trim IS the detail.
  • Crown Molding: Including compound miters on cathedral and coffered ceilings. High-visibility scope.
  • Millwork Installation: Kitchen cabinets, vanities, built-in shelving, closet systems. Scribe fitting, shimming, and leveling.

Nice to haves

  • Frameless shower enclosure installation (glass measurement and installation)
  • Interior railing installation (wood, metal, glass panel)
  • Experience with automatic drywall finishing tools (tapers, flat boxes)
  • Custom staircase trim and millwork experience
  • Cabinet modification and field adjustment skills

Qualifications

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in construction (required)
  • Minimum 3 years specifically performing luxury-grade finish carpentry
  • Must be a well-rounded interior carpenter -- able to frame, hang drywall, mud, and paint
  • Must provide photos or portfolio of finish carpentry work on luxury residential projects
  • Spanish fluency strongly preferred; bilingual Spanish/English is a significant advantage
  • Reliable transportation required

Pay & Benefits

  • Full-Time, W2 employment
  • Pay: $25 to $30 per hour, based on experience and skill level
  • Consistent work on luxury custom home projects
  • Opportunity to grow into leadership roles
  • Work directly with a Master Builder with 35+ years of experience

Schedule

  • Full-time, typically Monday-Friday with occasional Saturdays.
