Job description

Job Summary

Necessary carpentry duties include but are not limited to wood and metal framing, blocking, drywall patching, hanging doors & hardware, trim, specialties, temporary walls, etc. Requires knowledge of the trade.

Primary Job Functions

  • Planning and laying out of projects.
  • Works from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions.
  • Use of a variety of carpenter’s hand tools, portable power tools and standard measuring instruments.
  • Able to make standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work.
  • Selection of necessary materials for the job.
  • Training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
  • Maintains the general cleanliness and appearance of assigned spaces.
  • Assists others as part of the maintenance team as required and performs other duties assigned according to personal qualifications.
  • Improves and maintains the overall interior appearance by painting and redecorating walls, woodwork and fixtures. Knowledge of surface peculiarities and types of paint required for different applications.
  • Prepare surfaces for painting by removing old finish or by placing putty or filler in nail holes and interstices, paint with a spray gun or brush.
  • Has their own tools

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop and kneel for short periods, climb a ladder, stand for long periods of time, constant arm extensions.
  • Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, but none to the point of being disagreeable. May involve minor safety hazards where likely result would be cuts, bruises, etc.
  • Must be able to pass a local background check and have the ability to obtain and maintain NAC/LAC clearance after hire.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of computer software programs to include Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook required.
  • Experience with a Facility Computerized Maintenance Management System software (CMMS) highly desired.
