Substitute teachers are needed for all grades and all buildings of the district. The job can involve working in any setting for which you wish to be called. Teachers who are available for multiple grade levels and buildings are more likely to be called more often.
Job Summary:
Substitute teachers serve in a classroom and follow instructions left by absent teachers. All instructions are expected to be followed as written and instruction should continue as set forth by the classroom teacher.
Qualifications:
An Illinois teaching certificate or Substitute certificate is required before being called to work in the district. A criminal background check with fingerprint check is required and that must show fitness to work with children. Certificate registration and fingerprint forms must be completed at the Will County Regional Office of Education, 702 W. Maple, New Lenox, Illinois 60451, (815) 740-8360. No previous history of illegal or inappropriate activity with children or youth will be tolerated.
Working Conditions:
Hours depend on the school and the collective bargaining agreement. Calls are made as early as feasible each day depending on the notice given by the absent teacher.
