How much do fine artist jobs pay per hour?
What is a fine artist?
A fine artist uses a number of techniques and materials to create works of art for sale or exhibition. A fine artist can work in a variety of media, such as oil or acrylic painting, pen and ink, photography, ceramics, and other sculpting materials. Some fine artists craft objects that are functional and aesthetically pleasing, while others work solely to design pieces of art that have only a decorative purpose. Many fine artists work alone, but some, especially those who work in mediums such as sculpting or illustration, might work in teams.

What is the difference between Fine Artist vs Art Therapist?
| Aspect | Fine Artist | Art Therapist |
|---|---|---|
| Required Credentials | Typically a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Fine Arts or related field | Usually a Master’s in Art Therapy or related mental health field, with certification |
| Work Environment | Studios, galleries, art shows, freelance settings | Hospitals, clinics, schools, mental health facilities |
| Industry Usage | Art and creative industries, galleries, exhibitions | Healthcare, mental health, educational institutions |
While both Fine Artists and Art Therapists use art creatively, Fine Artists focus on creating and exhibiting art for aesthetic or commercial purposes. Art Therapists use art as a tool to support mental health and emotional well-being, often working within healthcare or educational settings. The key difference lies in their goals and work environments, though both require a background in art.
