Job description

This position entails the individual to collaborate in the day-to-day functions of the Diploma Cover Services department by effectively operating machinery in an organizing and efficient manner to achieve the company safety, productivity, and quality standards.

Description

A national manufacturing and software company located in the Virginia Beach area is seeking dependable individuals eager to build a career in a fast paced and friendly team-oriented environment. Exceptional attention to detail, organizational and time management skills are a must.

Duties

  • Safely and effectively operate one or more bindery machines.
  • Set up, operate, breakdown, and perform preventative maintenance on machinery.
  • Validate stock accuracy and quality consistency within the production run and report issues as required.
  • Identify mechanical issues, troubleshoot, and perform and/or assist with necessary repairs.
  • Investigate discrepancies in production standards and collaborate with team members to work toward quick resolution.
  • Prepare and verify stock, supplies, and production materials.
  • Accurately record material usage and production numbers.
  • Assist with all other tasks as assigned, requested, or necessitated.

Requirements

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Must demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in presswork, bindery, production and/or quality assurance is preferred but not required.
  • Existing Forklift certification preferred but not required.
  • Reliable transportation for timely work attendance.
  • Physically able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Physically able to push/pull/lift/carry supplies and various works in progress of at least 35-50 pounds.
  • Physically able to bend/kneel/walk/stand, in tandem with cart, stepstools or rolling ladders, to access supplies and various works in progress or other materials as needed in storage rooms or production areas.
  • Fine motor skills, including, but not limited to, the full, complete use of and muscle control required to make precise hand movements, relative to tasks requiring hand-eye coordination, muscle coordination and dexterity.

  • Full-Time, Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm with mandatory weekday or weekend overtime as needed.
