Job description

Citizens Memorial Hospital (CMH)  is hiring a Financial Counselor to join our Patient Accounts Department in Bolivar, Missouri — someone who leads with skill, compassion, and a drive to positively impact every patient and family we serve. 

Position Details 

  • Status: Full Time  

  • Work Shift: Days  

  • Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30a.m - 4:00p.m 

What Your Day Looks Like: Our team helps patients understand how their insurance works, their patient portion and the options available to help relieve the financial stress of the payment of that responsibility. 

As a Financial Counselor you will be:  

  • Performing financial clearance functions for patients/residents and clients of CMH 

  • Offering education and options to reduce their financial harm and stress, including but not limited to, explanation of insurance benefits, screening for Medicaid and assistance with applications 

  • Explaining and assisting with financial assistance 

  • Using RHC sliding fee program and payment plans 

  • Following up with accounts placed with vendors for assistance   

  • Maintaining Financial Assistance and RHC Sliding Fee Assistance processing and follow-up   

  • Collaborating with other team members, vendors and other departments to obtain the best financial outcomes for all involved   

  • Behaving in a manner consistent with the mission and objectives of CMH and performing other duties as requested. 

Qualifications: 

Education: Preferred High School Diploma or equivalent 

Experience: Customer service 

Skills: Time management, Communication, Calculation skills 

Licensure/Certification:Application Counselor Certification within 3 months of hire 

Physical: Ability to stand for 50% of the day and work on a computer for the remaining 50%
