What is a financial support worker?

Financial Support Workers are professionals who assist individuals and families in managing their finances, accessing benefits, and navigating financial difficulties. They provide guidance on budgeting, debt management, and connecting clients to relevant support services such as welfare programs or charitable resources. These workers often collaborate with social services, housing agencies, and financial institutions to help clients achieve greater financial stability and independence.

What are some common challenges financial support workers face when helping clients manage their finances?

Financial Support Workers often encounter clients with complex financial situations, such as debt, low income, or limited financial literacy. One common challenge is building trust and encouraging clients to openly discuss sensitive financial matters. Additionally, balancing empathy with practical guidance can be difficult, especially when clients are facing urgent needs. Success in this role often depends on strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to connect clients with appropriate resources and support networks.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a financial support worker, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Financial Support Worker, you need a solid understanding of financial processes, benefits systems, and case management, usually supported by relevant qualifications in social work, finance, or a related field. Familiarity with case management software, government benefit platforms, and spreadsheet tools like Microsoft Excel is frequently required. Outstanding interpersonal skills, empathy, and strong communication help build trust and support clients in vulnerable situations. These skills ensure effective financial guidance, accurate benefits administration, and positive outcomes for clients facing financial hardship.

Job Description

Financial Analyst โ€“ Rancho Cucamonga, CA | Full Relocation Package Offered

Relocate to Southern California's Inland Empire โ€” Sunshine, Space, and Career Growth

Trade cramped city living for wide-open Southern California skies, with the mountains for weekend hiking, wine country minutes away, and downtown Los Angeles still well within reach when you want the big-city energy. This corner of the Inland Empire offers a rare combination for SoCal: more house for your money, a lower cost of living than the coast, and a genuine community feel, all without giving up beaches, world-class dining, or major-league sports. It's Southern California living without the Southern California price tag.

The company provides full relocation assistance, with candidates able to begin the role remotely for 30-60 days while relocation logistics are finalized.

Our client, a leading manufacturer of aero and industrial gas turbine components, is a globally recognized public company with more than 75 years of innovation, growth, and technical excellence. • Employer contribution to your Retirement Savings Plan every pay period
  • A vibrant, collaborative culture where cross-functional teams thrive

Position Overview

This role provides key financial support to the plant, including annual budget, monthly forecast, weekly flash, month-end close, monthly financial reporting, ad-hoc business financial analysis, and internal control testing and compliance.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare monthly financial forecasts, weekly forecast updates, and analysis of financial and operational results
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations and inventory analysis
  • Perform self-assessment audits and ensure SOX compliance
  • Review, analyze, and report monthly manufacturing variances and plant expenses affecting job costing โ€” raw materials, inventory, cost of production labor, outplant, R&D, and other indirect costs
  • Support cross-functional development of departmental budgets, including reviews, analysis, and periodic reporting of key metrics
  • Assist internal and external auditors on facility audits
  • Help management assess factors affecting pricing and profitability of products/services
  • Report actual financial results and performance measures to the corporate office monthly
  • Prepare and post journal entries; handle other accounting tasks as needed

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in an accounting role, with formal training in financial accounting, cost accounting, financial analysis, and reporting
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills โ€” able to synthesize data and make calls without complete information
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; comfortable working cross-functionally beyond accounting/finance
  • Expert user of Microsoft Office; Epicor, Oracle, and Hyperion experience a plus
  • This position is subject to ITAR and requires U.S. person status
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship)
