As a Software Engineer Principle at PNC, you will have the following:
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Architecture
• Lead the design and implementation of end to end mainframe legacy Cobol application solutions.
• Serve as the technical authority for application architecture, design patterns, and integration approaches.
• Review and approve technical designs, code changes, and data integration logic to ensure quality, efficiency and consistency.
• Guide teams on best practices for performance and maintainability.
Application Development & Delivery
• Hands on development and oversight of Cobol components/applications and legacy •Collaborate with product owners and business analysts to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Ensure timely delivery of features, enhancements, and defect fixes.
• Promote disciplined change management and release practices.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
• Mentor and guide developers and junior team members.
• Provides technical guidance and support to colleagues and solution development
Required Qualifications
• 12+ years of software engineering experience with deep hands-on development expertise and proven technical leadership in mainframe/COBOL environments
• Familiar with Endevor, mainframe DB2 database concepts, CICS and VSAM files.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong spec writing ability
• Able to work with business and operations to understand requirements and create high and low level designs to meet requirements.
• Comfortable with learning new technologies not previously familiar with
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
• Strong functional knowledge of the debit card product lifecycle
• Experience in financial services or other highly regulated industries
