Position Overview
The Manager, Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting will be a key contributor to the Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting team, supporting the Senior Director, Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting. This role focuses on delivering value to the Company and external users through accurate and efficient preparation of both financial statements and key internal financial reports. It also supports the implementation and ongoing application of various accounting standards, helping ensure management has the information it needs to make sound business decisions. Within this role, the Manager will work closely with teams across multiple organizations of the business, as well as external parties. The ideal candidate must be able to work at a technical level (accounting research) and at a tactical level (analyzing data, application of accounting standards and problem solving).
What You'll Do:
  • Prepares, reviews, and analyzes financial statements.
  • Supports IPO readiness initiatives across financial reporting and technical accounting, including audit-readiness, SEC reporting preparation, and reporting infrastructure improvements.
  • Maintains a strong focus on internal controls over financial statement preparation, including identifying gaps and helping build out and mature the control environment.
  • Applies Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and develops or recommends accounting methods and procedures to ensure compliance with US GAAP.
  • Assists with building, maintaining, and continuously refining accounting policies, and serves as a primary point of contact for related inquiries.
  • Prepares and reviews governance and stakeholder materials and presentations (e.g., Audit Committee, Disclosure Committee, lender reporting, and other ad-hoc requests).
  • Prepares, reviews, and analyzes ad-hoc reports for executive management.
  • Provides support to internal and external auditors.
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements process improvements to simplify, standardize, and streamline processes, including documenting standard operating procedures.
  • Supports research into accounting or disclosure issues as they arise, with opportunities to draft technical accounting memos and support the implementation of new accounting standards, as needed.

What You'll Bring to Zelis:
  • Required
    • 5+ years of relevant work experience
    • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Accounting or Finance
    • CPA designation
    • Proven analytical, problem identification and resolution skills
    • Strong proficiency with US GAAP
    • Demonstrated technical skills including: ability to research complex accounting literature and technical analysis with thorough level of documentation
    • Candidate must be a pro-active self-starter with solid time management skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with multiple departments
    • Must have the ability to handle changing priorities, multi-task outside primary areas of responsibility, establish good business relationships, work directly with management, and have demonstrated leadership ability to manage departmental projects and/or initiatives.
    • Expected to handle confidential company financial and operational information in a responsible manner.
    • Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, problem-solving skills
    • Strong written and verbal communications skills
    • Strong management and interpersonal skills, including team-orientation, ability to collaborate with stakeholders, ability to work independently, high-degree of self-initiative, and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
  • Preferred
    • Public accounting background (Big 4 or national firm) with technology-sector client experience
    • Experience with Workiva
    • Familiarity with Workday Financials

Zelis is headquartered in the U.S., with multiple locations across the country and in Hyderabad, India. Check out our locations to learn more about our offices. All employee work locations are based on the needs of the position and are determined by the Leadership team. In-office work and activities vary based on work and team objectives in accordance with Company policies.
While location expectations vary by role, candidates within approximately 50 miles of a U.S. office are generally preferred to support collaboration when needed. Our hybrid approach is flexible, and in-office presence is guided by team and business needs rather than a fixed weekly schedule.
