Location (City, State): Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina

Pay: $95,000 - $105,000 annually

Addison Group is partnering with an established manufacturing organization to identify a Cost Accountant for a direct-hire opportunity. This position offers the chance to work closely with plant operations and leadership while contributing to financial reporting, cost management, and process improvement initiatives in a collaborative environment.

Job Description:

Our client is seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to support manufacturing operations through detailed cost analysis, financial reporting, and inventory management. This individual will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial data, supporting month-end close activities, and partnering with cross-functional teams to drive operational efficiencies and continuous improvement efforts.



Key Responsibilities:

Cost Accounting & Operational Analysis

  • Maintain and refine standard costing methodologies for materials, labor, and overhead.
  • Review manufacturing variances and provide recommendations to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Partner with operations and engineering teams to assess new products, materials, and process enhancements.
  • Assist with budgeting activities and annual cost roll processes.
  • Monitor inventory values and reconcile inventory balances with financial records.
  • Deliver meaningful analysis on product profitability and manufacturing performance.

Financial Reporting & General Ledger

  • Prepare journal entries related to inventory, production, and cost allocations.
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations and ensure accuracy of plant-level financial records.
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.

Sustainability & Compliance Support

  • Collaborate with internal teams to track and report environmental and operational metrics.
  • Assist with reporting requirements related to sustainability initiatives and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor expenses associated with recycling and efficiency programs.
  • Support the development of performance metrics and reporting tools.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Partner with operations, maintenance, and quality teams to improve overall plant performance.
  • Participate in process improvement and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior team members as needed.
  • Communicate financial insights to both accounting and non-finance stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline required.
  • Master's degree, MBA, or CMA designation is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years of cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting concepts, inventory management, and GAAP.
  • Experience working with ERP systems; familiarity with AS400 or JD Edwards is preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; Power BI experience is a plus.
  • Exposure to lean manufacturing principles is beneficial.
  • Strong analytical, collaborative, and communication skills.
