Job description

Job Summary:
The D. E. Shaw Group is seeking quantitative developers to join its Options group, where technology plays a crucial role in their operations. The role involves researching, building, and deploying distributed real-time systems software to support trading and research activities, while applying analytical and mathematical skills to identify market inefficiencies.
Responsibilities:
• You’ll research, build, and deploy distributed real-time systems software to support the firm’s trading and research activities.
• You’ll develop and utilize object-oriented design methodologies using C++, Java, and Python.
• You’ll build software that improves the performance, efficiency, and automation of existing trading, research, and support processes.
• You’ll perform mathematical and quantitative analyses, apply numerical techniques, and develop software that will analyze and develop statistical models for our computerized financial trading processes and strategies.
Qualifications:
Required:
• A Doctor of Philosophy degree in computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field of study is required.
• Knowledge or experience in the following must have been gained through academic research and/or coursework: probability and statistics; data structures and algorithm design; machine-learning theory and techniques, including clustering, regression, and classification; explainable AI and neural network theory; optimization theory and techniques, including linear/convex programming, integer programming and iterative algorithms for optimization; scientific writing; deep learning modeling tools, including TensorFlow or PyTorch; Python scientific computing libraries, including NumPy and SciPy; Python, C++, and Java.
