Job description
As the Team Lead Project Management Finance - EPC Projects, you will lead a team of Commercial Project Managers responsible for the successful commercial execution of complex EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) substation projects supporting utility and Data Center customers across North America. You will provide commercial leadership throughout the project lifecycle, partnering closely with Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and executive leadership to ensure projects are delivered in accordance with contractual obligations, financial targets, and Siemens Energy governance standards. Acting as a trusted advisor to both your team and senior leadership, you will oversee portfolio performance, drive financial transparency, manage commercial risks and opportunities, and develop the next generation of commercial talent while supporting the continued growth of Siemens Energy's Grid Technologies business.
How You'll Make an Impact
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of approximately five Commercial Project Managers, fostering a high-performance culture focused on collaboration, accountability, continuous learning, and professional development while providing guidance on complex commercial, contractual, and financial matters throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide commercial leadership for a portfolio of large-scale EPC substation, and Data Center infrastructure projects, ensuring accurate financial planning, forecasting, revenue recognition, cash flow management, cost-to-complete analysis, and successful commercial execution from project award through final closeout.
- Partner closely with Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Supply Chain, Legal, Tax, and executive leadership to proactively identify commercial risks and opportunities, resolve complex project challenges, support customer negotiations, and ensure contractual compliance while driving profitable project outcomes.
- Lead monthly financial closing activities, project reviews, forecasting cycles, balance sheet reviews, and portfolio performance reporting, providing senior leadership with transparent financial analysis, scenario planning, key performance indicators, and actionable recommendations that support strategic business decisions.
- Collaborate with Siemens Energy's global manufacturing, and supply chain organizations to proactively address delivery challenges, change orders, supplier impacts, and execution risks while maintaining alignment across international project teams and customers.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance forecasting accuracy, reporting transparency, commercial governance, digitalization, and standardized project execution processes while supporting business growth through lessons learned, best practice sharing, and operational excellence.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree or MBA preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in Commercial Project Management, Project Finance, Commercial Controlling, or a related project-based finance environment, preferably supporting large EPC, energy, infrastructure, transmission, or industrial projects.
- Previous experience leading Commercial Project Managers, Finance professionals, or project-based teams, with demonstrated success developing talent and driving high team performance.
- Strong knowledge of project accounting principles, including Percentage of Completion (PoC) accounting, IFRS, revenue recognition, financial forecasting, cost-to-complete analysis, cash flow management, and commercial risk management within complex project environments.
- Experience working with SAP and advanced Microsoft Office applications; knowledge of Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, or other business intelligence and digital reporting tools is preferred. Professional certifications such as PM@Siemens, PMP, CPA, or equivalent are considered an asset.
- Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
